what i have to say about my experience with Bob Long products
So PbNation like many players out there i took a step away from paintball for a good chuck of time. I recently had a chance to get back into the sport and afford of all the cool stuff i only dreamt about when i was younger. Getting back into paintball reminded me how much i loved it before and made me wonder why i ever got out in the first place. Since getting back in and working the rust out of my game I've tried out a bunch out the new gear and some oldies id always wanted. Before i got out i never owned any Bob Long products but was always extremely impressed by every aspect of there guns. Now tho i can say that I'm a proud owner of some amazing bob long products i couldn't be happier with. The first gun i picked up when i got back in was a Vice off ebay, sure enough it was broken. Never even got to shoot it, very sad day. The plus to it all was the Bob long technical staff helping figure out what was wrong and cause the issue; helping me get my money back through ebay's buyer protection. (thank you very much Jason) Then so random i came across a super clean 2k2 dragon on my local craigslist that i ended up playing with more than the NT i just got at the time.Unfortunately i no longer have the dragon but have nothing but great things to say about a gun that was out of my league back in the day. Then i got really luck and had a chance to pick up a G6r and V1 Vic and I'm speechless. I really have to give it up to everyone over Bob Long your products have far exceeded my expectation. Thanks to you guys i feel like there was a welcome back on my decision to return to paintball. Sorry to rant but i have to say thank you to Bob Long, Jason and everyone else there, and for any body else one else out there looking to get back into paintball, or for those that haven't experienced this company you can go wrong with them amazing company and guns that are more fun to play with than your girlfriend.
Thank You Bob Long!!!!

I just recently purchased a G6R from bob long direct. I must say my first impression was "wow". The guy I talked to (Mike I think) was extremely helpfull in aiding me with my purchase. I had never bought a brand new gun before so I had a few questions before I made my final decision on which gun to get. Mike was extremely helpful and I ended up purchasing a G6R with pillow bolt, LP popit and an advanced barrell kit.
A few weeks went by and I had not heard anything or recieved any emails so I called. My gun was still sitting at the factory because the barrell kit was on back order. The plan was to anno everything together to ensure a good match. So about 3 and a half weeks went by and today my gun and barrell kit arrived. The gun looks amazing. However, the first thing I noticed is that there was no QC card in the box for my pressure settings. I thought no big deal I bought the pressure tester too so I'll put it on and write down the settings. So, pressure tester goes in and I gas it up. HP gauge hits 180psi then I look at the LP gauge... it is pegged past 160psi and I hear a leak inside the gun. I put the gun back together without the tester and air it up. It works perfect and no leaks. So, I start inspecting this tester and low and behold... it was milled incorrectly. They drilled one of the holes too deep and connected the HP and LP side through the gauge ports. I am calling tomorrow and filling them in on what I found. I am going to request that a new tester is overnighted to me with saturday delivery. I only hope that sending 180psi through the LP side of my gun didn't damage anything. I understand that people make mistakes but, when spending 1,100 and waiting 3 and a half weeks I'd at least expect a QC card and a functioning pressure tester.
I'll update tomorrow after I talk to a rep.

I think maybe there was a bad batch of testers lately or something. I bought one as well and the threading was messed up so I couldn't even thread the LPR into it more than a half a turn so there was no seal. Called up Bob Long Direct and they told me to mail it in and they'd send a new one out right away. Just waiting for the new one to arrive today hopefully!

I talked to Zach(extremely helpful) and he said ussually what causes the leak in the pressure testers is one of the set screws not having loctite on them. Particularly the set screw on the end that screws into where the LPR ussually goes. I was able to put a small wrap of teflon tape on the screw and put it back in. The tester seems to work great now. At first I was having problems getting the gun to shoot over 255fps. I took the LPR off and checked the spring inside the gun. It was not seated right so I poked it with an allen wrench and it snapped into posisition. My current settings are about 185 hpr 75 lpr and shooting right around 290fps with an LP poppit and stock bolt. I do have a g6 pillow bolt but upon inspection it seems to have been milled rather roughly. There are some jagged edges where the ports were put into the bolt. I'll try to get a picture and post it up so you can see what I'm talking about.

My new tester just came in today and pressures are 190-195/60 so I'm going to bump up the LPR a bit and do the LP poppet install tonight or tomorrow so I can sweet spot both the regs and get it all nice and zoned in. Even without the tester and just shooting those pressures though, my G6R performed quite well this weekend and was doing +-6 with only about 2-3 cases through it so far.

When I talked to Zach he told me the general rule they go with for G6Rs and LP poppits is 180-190/70-80. Of course all guns are different but, it was nice to have a general number to start at. I too will be sweet spotting my LPR this weekend. Let me know what you come up with when your done.

It's definitely a great upgrade for the price. After installing my LP poppet and setting my pressures properly I would say that I have it shooting just as smooth and quiet as my Geo2 was. If you have a few bucks to spend and you're really looking for an upgrade it's probably the first one anyone is going to recommend to you. Next in line could be the Ninja SLP reg for your tank so you get back the small efficiency loss from the LP poppet and be able to shoot very deep into your tank. Then if you're still feeling the urge, maybe a new TechT zero-ping ram if you want to quiet down your marker even more. Maybe a new bolt like the Hush or Juit.. sorry for the rant there.. LP poppet is worth the few bucks, yes.

I just had the EXACT same thing happen with a brand new pressure tester that I got through ANS Gear. Blast actually mailed out my new pressure tester today, but my old one did the exact same thing. When attached to the gun it sounded like it was leaking through the breech, and both sides of the gauge were reading the same pressure. I was concerned that I may have damaged it too since I did fire it a couple times thinking the regs needed to equalize. Fortunately, when I called Blast I actually had the pleasure of talking to the man himself, Bob Long, about what was going on. We thought something was wrong with the LPR at first, but after trying several things he suggested we narrowed it down to a crappy tester.
It's taken a little while to get a new one back, but they didn't get the new ones still today apparently, so what can you do? I wonder how many other people got part of this bad batch. That has to be embarrassing for whoever mills these things!
Bob said that as long as you didn't fire it a bunch with a bad tester on it that it should be ok. The worst thing you can do is stretch the solenoid gaskets which I guess can't really be replaced without replacing the whole solenoid.
You should be good though!

If you ever go to a National Event, count your lucky stars if you get a tech that is polite and actually fixes your marker. The main reason I sold my Victory.

Yeah I did! The lady that answers the phone originally tried answering my tech question when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my gun that was not leaking just minutes before (I thought I broke the marker). Once I asked another even more technical question she said "Hang on a second," then handed the phone to someone and it was Bob Long. I about fell out of my chair. He was very kind and spent about 25 minutes with me on the phone and was extremely helpful. I'm an engineer so I really appreciated his very technical explanation of how certain parts worked and correlated to others. I actually learned a ton about the design of the G6R and have a much better understanding of how it works. His tips and short list of things to try inevitably resulted in me ruling out any issues with my G6R at all and discovering something was very wrong with the tester itself. Needless to say I was very impressed with that being my 2nd call to Blast ever (the 1st call was earlier in the day because the pressure tester itself was leaking out of an allen screw and wanted to make sure loctite was ok to use to fix it, it was).
Beyond having some bad luck with a bad batch of pressure testers I think the Bob Long products are top notch. Service has been great. I do wish I would have gotten my tester faster, but I don't think it's their fault that the mistake happened and they had to wait for an entirely new batch to be produced.
I haven't even really gotten to play with my G6R yet, but I already can tell I'm going to love it. So easy to service and take apart. I even like the color...never have seen another G6R like it!

Bob Long sounds alot younger on the phone...
Talked to him myself about 2 weeks ago about pressure testers and stuff...
He said the LPR gauge they actually use on testing markers was bought from a welding shop, glycerine filled...
Guy was extremely polite, at first i thought i was talking to a tech than he said who he was...Was totally shocked but very impressed, Bob seems like a very down to earth type guy....
Very much enjoyed talking to him, told him it was a pleasure to be able to talk to him over the phone....

You can use whatever lube you want on your gun in whatever quantity you want to use, but you shouldn't because it can stop working. Use dow55. Simple. There isn't a way of skirting around that.

Really? I found Terry & Bjorn to be very helpful when ever I need them. Of course if you come up to the booth, with a nasty attitude, you are going to be the last person they WANT to help but of course they will help you.
