When we learned the date of the first PSP event, we were kind of surprised how early it was in the year. We have had some pretty rough snowstorms and more were to come.
We had a team meeting to decide if we should attend the 1st event. We all wanted to go but we wanted to be COMPETITIVE and not just play for the sake of playing an event. We weren't going to go just so we could say we were there. It costs a lot of money to play nationally so we wanted to make sure we had a team that was prepared.
We could have saved money and skipped the first event and had the winter off. Then we could wait until the weather was better and practice normally for Chicago.
After a serious discussion that night, we decided to play. Once we decided to play we knew we would have to get the rust off right away and start practicing immediately. We promised each other not to waste a single weekend and to practice regardless of the conditions.
We had to snow blow the field almost every Saturday and Sunday we practiced because it would snow during the week and usually Saturday night also.
These are pictures from our first practice on 1/22/11:
