while we wont necessarily be having an official "feeder" team, we will continue to work with and help local teams that come to fox4 paintball, with private team clinics as well as talking with teams and giving pointers at all rotations.

For an up and comming team id recomend playing agenst the strongest competition u can as offten as u can the best way to learn is a solid but kicking.

as for a feeder team its just not in the budget, and with our strong connection to the teams in the fox 4 area it seems almost unnessisary.

The feeder team question has been asked way to many times....Here's a question though, are there any other major brand sponsors that are being worked on for you guys? Such as; Exalt, Virtue, etc.

Josh,

Not at this current time.

We're working on the big sponors first - Guns, Paint, "Basic" gear (pants, jerseys, loaders, packs, pads, gearbag)

Once we've been able to lock those items up we'll have a few more cycles to start looking at the secondary sponsors such as Exalt and Virtue.

Josh,

If you mean more/some vendors coming to our events - such as tournaments and scenario games. I don't believe our pro status as a major draw for that.

We'll continue to get a few of the local companies to show up at a few of our events (Mostly scenario games) due to the volume of players that are there and are potential customers for them.

That being said - I'd love to have a huge vendor area for both our foXball finals and our October Scenario game.

As awesome as this would be, and I know Dave cleared up a lot of this, its just not financially sound for a small company who already struggles to make it to national events to get to a local. Not saying foxball is not worthy of this, its just not in the budgets for many companies, especially with no merger and the fact that the NPPL and PSP will have 5 events each this season.

Also, finding smaller sponsors is much harder in the beginning, as some sponsorship issues might clash between the major sponsors and the smaller ones. 187 had a dominant season in 2011, and has set her goals on pro. That doesnt necessarily mean that sponsors will just come automatically, 187 will have to prove they earned these in the pro division. Thats just my 2 cents.

Question of the hour: Would you say that drilling or situational drills would be your focus during the off-season? With the distance and expenses of traveling to practice a pro-team, do you think this will help prepare you guys for Texas, or are you in the works of setting up a scrimmage for before the first event?

The likelihood we have a scrimmage with another pro team before Texas is slim and none. And none is way out in front right now. Time and money are the biggest obstacles. Some of our players are still in College – others are working for the man – just not enough “Free” time to travel somewhere else for practice right now.

We typically do a little bit of both – Saturdays are typically dedicated to drills and technique while Sundays are more focused on running points and putting to use what we learned on Saturday. If I had to pick one – Drilling and Technique over points.

I agree. Amazing gun-fighting skills were one of the reasons the Hurricanes stayed in the pro ranks for so long. Granted they had more sponsorship dollars back then, and towards the end better competition nearby, their technical skills were so on point from all of this need to drill, especially in the off season. They were at BP every week and weekend drilling and drilling and drilling. Situational drills help practice communication and working together. Running points just brings all this together. NE teams should look at this system to help rise through the ranks and onto the national scene. And it becomes even more important as you begin to rise through the ranks, and have less and less competition around you to practice with.

Lets rewind 5 years a bit here. Dave, or any of the other guys, you have the option of going pro in both leagues (with the current formats), sponsorship dollars will cover most if not all expenses with players paying about what they pay out now. Would you play both? Or would you rather focus on your primary format (xball)? I know realistically you couldn't (getting time off work for your guys/college), but I am just curious what your opinions would be.

I am going to guess they will stick with xball, no need to waste time and money on a dying league. Plus just becoming pro they should focus on winning in the pro division before bouncing around leagues. Don't want to spread yourself to thin now.

Yea even if they weren't dying though, I think that's where the canes went wrong is trying to compete in both leagues instead of just focusing on one.

187, just read through this Q&A, you guys a very gracious with your advice.

I didn't know anything about 187 other than that you dominated D2 last year. Wasn't a believer til I saw you fellas play Jersey. Saw a level of team cohesion reminiscent of Dynasty '05 (players making moves at the same time, changing lanes simultaneously etc.). But also saw some great work changing up game plans.

Q: Who makes those strategy decisions for 187(deciding game plans/personnel/timeouts?
How much of what the other team has been doing (scouting before and during the game) affects the game plans you make?

Q: Also, out of curiosity, which airport do you guys fly out of?

Thanks for any info.

Best of luck in Pro,

Mike

Thanks for the kind words

Nick our captain and Noel our bench coach both make up who is on the field or what play is called. Nick generally creats our plays with specific players in mind. He then will alter personal based on how the other team is playing, how each player is playing and the situation

We put a lot of pride into all knowing the game fairly well, so scouting and adjustments come pretty naturally to every player.

As far as airports...

We mainly fly out of providence or Boston
