why make the jump to pro next season?

are too many players ranked semi-pro to continue in the d1 brackets?

There are few reasons:

1 – We’re all competitors – we want the best challenge possible. Having won the Division just below PRO our next natural step is to play PRO.
2 – The prize package for winning the D1 Series for the year is ½ off the PRO entry for each event in 2012.
3 – Don’t want to be considered sandbaggers by staying in D1.

As for APPA Ranking – I believe the majority of our team will be ranked Semi-Pro (until they play a pro event) at the end of this season. While I believe the current D1 roster rules allow you to roster Semi-Pro players – does it make sense to have a FULL roster of semi-pro players?

In the end, I believe it’s the challenge that pushes us to play pro. We all want to push to get better. Playing against the best possible competition is the best way to accomplish that goal.

We want to play pro because that is where the best in the world play and we can't wait to see how we stack up against the best.

Every dedicated, hungry, determined paintball player wants to play Pro - to be on that field where you have seen so many of your favorite players battling it out on Sunday to be the best in the world for that moment in time, to know you and your teammates are # 1.

We have all been playing paintball together for a while now and I feel we have gone through the natural progression of working through the Divisional ranks and earned our spot in the Pro bracket.

The time has come to put Fox4 Paintball on the map.

With the clear unpredictability of New England weather how will you guys practice this winter, or will you be flying out to practice in warmer climates?

Well...

Last season - in prep for Galveston, TX we snowblowed our field off most every weekend in order to practice. That meant that many weekends were kicked off with about 2 hours of field clearing due to the heavy snow fall we had last season.

This season - we're looking into all our options - playing Indoor, playing outdoors and possibly flying out for a practice or two with other pro teams.

As we solidify our plans we'll post them here for all to know.

Definitely more of the same. It has proven successful. But we obviously have to change it up a bit now that our competition is the best in the world

maybe a bit more conditioning (eventhough I feel we all can play every point of every match if need be) due to the longer matches in Pro.

Also getting back to being used to penalty boxes and timed penalties will have to be added into our drills

Calvin,

I think the one major difference is we'll hopefully get in one or two practices against other PRO teams before events. The challenge – who? With the nearest Pro teams currently CEP and TBD. Those aren't an easy drive away. I'm jealous of the Southern California crowd - not only do they have great weather year round, they have several pro teams to bang heads with every weekend.

That makes sense. There are definite strategies you need to work out regarding penalty boxes and timing of flag hangs that will be situation dependent.

I was wondering about conditioning whether you guys work that into your practices or rely on the players to do that on their own.

i was just thinking about the weather and how it impacts your training. It's hard enough to create a winning paintball program, let alone deal with freezing temperatures and snow removal on the field. You guys really have to want it.

Maybe you guys could invite pro teams to your location for practices so they can have the first hand pleasue of experiencing a New England winter. No doubt Dynasty or the Ironmen would love to get away from socal weather for a bit.

Calvin,

We typically build some conditioning into our winter practices - mostly in the form of shoveling snow, running sprints and general Insanity drills (various physical activities built into a 15-20 minute continous time period).

Everyone on the team is also expected to work on their own conditioning on a continous basis - both during the winter and during the season. Just doing it on the weekends is not enough.
