Returning Vibe Owner

The first marker I ever truly hated to part with was my vibe. I have had Protos, DP's, and autocockers. I never truly enjoyed them as much as my vibe.

So here is the deal. I am getting a Vibe from a guy at my field this weekend. I have the following all coming to be put in this marker:

1. New board and solenoid coming from GOG with the envy settings
2. SP Firebolt
3. 2-piece black back/blue front 14" Lucy Unitech barrel
4. NDZ center twist on/off ASA
5. Black rail
6. Black macro fittings

I am debating currently whether to replace the reg or not. If i do decide to, should i get the CP shorty reg or the Dye Hyper 3 reg? I know the CP is less expensive, but there is something about the prospect of having a hyper reg on a vibe that just keeps pulling me towards it.

Anyways, future upgrades that are planned are a techt l7 bolt and blackheart board and breech.

Offer up any suggestions for this build or just let me know what you think.

I too sold my Vibe about 1.5 years ago and I missed it. I have owned a Tippman A5, Mini, DP G3, BL Victory and a PE Geo 2. I currently own 2 Egos. I've used many different guns from low to high end (extensively) so I speak from experience when I talk about this marker. I too missed the Vibe because of it's simplicity, ruggedness and consistency so I picked one up used for cheap and I'm so glad I did.
As for upgrades, I have an on/off ASA, clamping feedneck, freak barrel kit and the TechT bolt. Didn't want to bother with anything else.
I don't want eyes, It works great without them at the stock 11 BPS and I enjoy not having to mess with them. I'd only upgrade the reg if the stock one busted. I took mine apart, cleaned and lubed it with DOW 55 and have been amazed how consistent it is and how tight the grouping is even at long distance. With the TechT bolt it's even quieter and super smooth. I rarely if ever break a ball too.
As for the board, I'd only get the new one if the stock board was busted and/or if you really really want PSP and Billy Ball mode. I don't use this in tournaments (only open/rec play) so I don't care about PSP mode but to each his own.

Yeah, I am only getting the new board because my current one is busted.

stock regs works pretty good in my opinion. Personally not a fan of Tech-T bolts. Trying looking into the Deadlywind bolt.
Out of all upgrades, I personally think a QEV is the best upgrade for Vibe/ION.

I definitely plan on getting a QEV, I just forgot to put that in the original post. I havent heard much about the deadlywind bolt. The main reason I chose the techt is because I have had one in an old ion before and it was amazing. If anyoje has had experience with the DW bolt, feel free to add your input.

Has anyone replaced the stock vibe detents with the fly-on replacements? If so, how well do they work for you?

Fly on? I have NDZ ones in mine and I have used Kila Detents in mine as well. They were both spring detents and have worked great.

Yeah, Fly-on is the Techt set. I am thinking about picking up a set but wanted to know if they actually made a difference.

I don't think they make a difference. Have you ever had any kind of problem with the stock detents? Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

Touche. I posted that last one, then looked at the first post I posted in this thread and was like :faceplam: (to myself).

I picked the NDZ and Kila detents up because I found them for like $1.

They are a better system of stopping double feeding, if that's what you're asking.

Yeah that's basically what I wanted to know. I am trying to make a sleeper marker. I want people to see the vibe and think "oh look a smart parts gun, that's garbage" but i want them to be impressed with it after shooting.

A new bolt system and board would be the easiest way to do that.

Well, got a replacement bolt stop on the way. Hopefully it works. Can't wait to air this thing up and see how she shoots. Still debating on whether or not to get a new reg. If the stock reg doesn't have any leaks I will probably keep it. My main problem with it has always been how long it is. I like the feel of the CP shorty regs myself.

IMO, CP reg is a good way to go if you prefer the feel and ease of maintenance. Though I like the stock reg and have gotten very consistent results with it; CP regs are high quality (often licensed or copied in other guns) and certainly a lot easier to clean and tech than the stock reg. Those retaining clips are kind-of a pain and the inner core of the reg is a bit hard to get to. For me, when it breaks, then I'll get a CP reg too.

CP reg only if it's the newer Generation... two piece Vs 3 piece. 3 piece can be at times be a pain to take apart without proper tools. New one you can just do by hand.

Hyper 3 is good replacement for the stock reg if you want to blow money. Same principle with the rubber. Feedneck seems like it'd be a good investment, but all the aftermarket ones are ugly and don't match the outside diameter that the stock one has (it just makes it look janky IMO). I'm glad I made the investment in my Vibe.

I shot my Vibe last week (or a friend did rather) but, I chronographed it for him. It shot 283, 283, 285. I have a freak barrel now. So my build is COMPLETE! I'll have to post pics tomorrow or something.

But if I had to buy it new I would get:

-GOG Envy with Blackheart Board
-Freak Barrel
-Nice On/Off (I love Bob Long and NDZ ones that come out the front)
-Techt L7 Bolt or DW Hollowpoint Bolt
-Vibe Reg cover (and make it fit)
-Cheapest Kind of Spring/Ball and Plunger Detents you can find

THATS IT! That's how mine is and it shoots great and I love it for being such a reliable, accurate and great feeling marker. And I've owned plenty of high-end markers (although the high-end ones do FEEL better in the hands, because I have small hands and the grip frames are smaller on high-end markers).
