My 98C W/ACT Project Opinions Needed. Pic Heavy.
Okay this has been a long project for me and I need to get it finished. I started this project in October 2009 (yes you read that right) I started out strong with the project but it ended up getting put into the closet when I had some money problems. I have now pulled it out of the closet and I have it fully functional and shooting.
The idea behind this build was to make the gun look smooth and have no rough edges if that makes since. I also wanted to add the upgrades that I wanted to it and it still not weigh anymore then a stock 98C W/ACT and still be reliable.
The part I need advice with is the cocking handle. I don't like it and I have not seen any aftermarket ones in a long time. I know that you can cover it with a rocketcock II, but I don't think I would like the way that it would look. Is there a way to make a new handle with like a ball on the end? Would aluminum hold up I ask because I have had the idea of taking the stock handle to the local machine shop and have them reproduce one. I don't know throw some ideas at me.
Also any other suggestions or constructive criticism on the overall build is welcome. I want to also note that I am not done with the body, but I wanted to get it together and play with it at Xtreme Paintball's Halloween Game.
List of upgrades:
Orange Howitzer Bolt
Bt Vertical Adapter
Rufus Dawg Feedneck
CP barrel .682 back and 14" front
CP Gas thru grip
NDZ On/Off
Techt Fang Trigger
Techt Zero Kick Hammer
Virture grips (not finished w/modification)
Bellow are pics of the build progress so far from start to were it is at now.

Not suggesting you buy it from there but it was the first place that came up in my search...

I honestly did not know that Lapco still made their cocking rod. I am still not sure I like the looks of it.
Anybody else got any ideas for cocking rods?

Full Boar Rear Shadow Cocking Kit.
Zero external moving parts! Hard-ish to find though.

have you thought about milling the front handle off all together and putting the expansion chamber under the valve. This is my body cut down
[IMG]
Then use a vertical adapter to connect the expansion like this one to the valve
[IMG]
That would bring your front hand in closer to your other. Making you smaller in the bunker. Just a thought and an idea for you, as for me I went another way with it. To the pump/pistol

I did mine similarly.
I found it MUCH more user-friendly with the reg coming under the valve. I only had it like that because I had some PVC and the CO2 cartridge thing decided I'd throw them on, but I normally had it set up for speedball. I might slap the gun together for a pic later.

Ok this has me super interested. I looked it up and that would be awesome. Does anybody have any pictures of the kit not installed on a marker. I am wondering if it could be reproduced?
I have also thought about taking off the front grip and I am unsure if I would like it. One of the reasons I put the marker back together for the game this coming weekend is so I can play with it and decide if I want to completely remove the front grip or not.

I'll dig mine out and see if I can find all it's pieces. I am 90% sure I don't have the beaver tail, but I think I've got the rest.

From what I have found through google Full Boar made two different kits. On had the beaver tall and the cocking knob that worked back and forth. The other kit was almost flush with the back of the gun and had no external moving parts.
I am more interested in the flush "Shadow" kit but not sure I will find one.

Mine is the one with the reciprocating knob.
I liked it, but it was a bear to cock if it was cold out... couldn't grab the knob worth ****.
EDIT - yeah, I've seen that one. I would prefer it, but didn't know about it when I got this one.

Yea I could see the knob being a pain to cock. I see how it is made. I am not sure how that would work and still have the ACT function. It gives me some ideas. I am still searching to find a pic of the other kit outside of a marker.

Do a top cocking mod. It's a relatively simple mod that isn't done very often. All you have to do is cut a slot in the top of the body, drill a hole in the hammer and find a cocking knob (you could even modify the stock one).

I have seen the top cocking mod done a time or two. At the moment I am still looking into the Shadow kit if that does not pan out top cocking might be the way to go.
After this weekend I will know if I plan to completely remove the front grip.

Top-cocking is a very cool way to go. I never got around to doing it, but it was in my plans.

It's been years since I have opened up my 98 ACT ( I don't even know where it is) but I believe you can't have a top-cocking system with the ACT in working order.
Please double check and correct me if I am wrong.

I believe you are correct. I looked at mine again last night and don't think it is possible and have the ACT work.
