Plans for Next Season
might be too early to tell, but I'm just curious, and I'm sure others are as well, what the game plan is for the team next season, and whether a so-so performance at cup affects those plans.

First off, there was no so-so performance at Cup. We played poorly. The worst we have all season. It happens. Sometimes you are the dog, sometimes you're the hydrant. This past weekend, we were the hydrant.
And the performance of the team at Cup does not change my POV from 3-weeks before Cup.
At this point, it is almost impossible to tell (for NEH and almost everyone else, as well) what next year will involve. Based on my conversations with people from both the PSP and the NPPL, there is simply no way to know:
i. How many events there will be next year? One league, 4 events? One league, 5 events? Two leagues, 4 and 4 or 4 and 5? One league, 6 events?
ii. What the format will be. 5man RaceTo, 6man RaceTo, 7man RaceTo2, 7man, non race...
iii. What divisions there will be. Pro and D1? Pro and Semi-Pro? Pro, Semi-Pro and D1? Open? What the heck is open?
iv. What format the divisions will play? Will [insert division below pro here] continue to be 5man RaceTo5 or will it switch to RaceTo7 with penalty boxes?
v. If D1 teams will be given the option of moving up to Pro. I was told by multiple NPPL sources that PSP D1 teams would definately not be given the option of going pro (at least not before that option was presented to every current pro team). And if they are not given the option of moving up, what are they given? Semi-Pro? RaceTo7?
I played my first game of paintball in 1992. I took over as captain of Team Green in 1995. I formed the Hurricanes in 1999. I stopped playing in 2002. Amongst the many lessons my mistakes have taught me is that there usually is no reason to rush to judgement in this sport. Let everyone else with bigger decisions go first.

And doing this each year doesn't become tiresome? (Waiting to hear what ridiculous changes come to the format)
I don't understand why teams don't speak up more. It's your god damn money, spend it on what you want to play, not what they decide. These aren't problems that should even exist. I don't think it's unreasonable to have at least some expectation for the next season.

Change is a constant, and not just in this sport.
What is irksome (to me) is change that appears to have little rhyme or reason. For instance (and with all due respect to Lane and the PSP), changing field sizes.
In this case, change is being driven by the possible merger of two leagues. It would be unreasonable to expect no change in the face of that (not just unreasonable, but impossible, as there needs to be some change if the two leagues merge).
I cannot spend my money on what I want to play, because there is no national, professionally run (and that means, mostly, APPA registration and NXL quality reffing), web-casted, 3-man RaceTo5 league with events at MardiGras (Feb), HB (March), Chicago (June), Aruba (Sept), Disney (Oct) and SkyDome (Dec). So I can only decide to play what they offer or not to play at all.
And I do express my opinions to Lane and Camille (probably far more often than either of them cares to hear it).

Wish there was a discussion in this forum about nppl-psp merger... I hate posting in threads that are in the pbn news/community focus. For one, those things are way to open to the ravages of pbn newbs and for two, there are many more people in here I'd like to hear from/ local points of view as well.

Yes.
Probably the Dome and Boston Indoor.
Are there other options?

Looking back at the recent field size changes, and hearing your statement, it almost sounds as if the PSP was preparing for the merge by changing the size. All the NPPL would have to do is shorten theirs a little bit and we would have two fairly similiar fields.
