Too many problems from what I hear with volkswagens needing warranty work and such. I'd probably keep the jeep or look at toyota or Hyundai to be honest

Ya I have a Passat. 2008 2.0T
Like any German car, it requires heavy maintenance. Mine is a 2008 and I've had problems with the crank case ventilation, fuel pump module, a defect with a chip that didnt let me start my car, car seat adjuster dying suddenly, and some minor engine problems. However, almost all of it has fallen under warranty, which just ended last summer for me
My Passat requires (not recommends, but actually requires) premium fuel + synthetic oil. I switched to regular fuel for a good amount of time and ended up having minor issues which were apparently related to the octane. I pay ~$80 per oil change for 5-6 quarts. If you can do it yourself, it'd be about $50. Takes ~18.5gal of gas, so about $65 ($3.50/gal) in gas that lasts about 450-500 miles highway (25 to 27mpg)
Despite the expenses, I really like my Passat. It gets good mileage and is a speedy little guy. All of my friends have nicknamed it the space car because it hauls and its an incredibly smooth ride. But if you want one, you have to make sure you can keep up with costs. If you're always strapped for cash, you might want to look to another car. Obviously, not everyone has problems, but VW is known for being a typical German car in terms of upkeep.

I was looking at getting the 2002ish passats and did a lot of research. I think the biggest thing that all the guys told me to make sure of, was to get paperwork on the car saying oil changes were done at 5000 miles max, and if it has over 100k miles, the timing chain had been replaced.
I was all set to buy one till I got a good deal on my integra.

I had a 2002 Passat GLX. It was a good car, but somewhat more expensive to fix if something happened. If you're getting the V6, make sure the timing belt and water pump was changed at 100,000 or you that you aren't going to have to have it done yourself because it's super expensive.

your jokes aren't funny.....in case you didn't realize..
a 1 of 5 factory anno original luxe is different than a mark kressin droid. my black luxe was a CEP luxe but I'm not asking any higher of a price cause pro owned = more used and beat.

Unless you need to:
1) Run a red light before the traffic cam gets you
2) Get to a hospital
3) Get to Chick-fil-a before it closes on Saturday night...so you don't have to wait until Monday
