Many of the RRODs can be fixed very easily. I did one myself following a youtube video. All I had to do was take it apart, remove the heat sink, clean off the thermal paste with some IPA, apply new thermal paste, and boom she worked.

However, I really do take care of my stuff but my house has probably gone through 3-4 xbox360s. They are just built to die apparently.

had a release 360 last me up until 09 i believe. then it rroded and sent it back worked for a year and then rrod 4 times in 2 months and sent ti back each time.. freaked out on them and told them i want a new console period, they said theyd send me a refurb one no cost... they sent me back my original one that was still rrod.

went and did the walmart swap and havent had a problem since lol

My xbox has ****ed up twice, although I swapped the guts from a borrowed wal-mart one the first time, and used some parts from my friends broken xbox the second. Microsoft can suck my nut if they think I'm paying $99 for simple repairs.

i still have my psx back from 97 that still works fine too...so did the ps2 i had.

all my ps3's have sat in open shelfs with plenty of ventilation and never been abused.

1st overheated about 3 months after the warranty, 2nd overheated about 2 1/2 years later, 3rd one still works but the disk drive wont read anything, lasted less than one year. they were all 60gb backward compatible models too. ill see how far this slim model lasts.

yea, first couple times it didnt really bother me....but the 3rd one only lasted about 7 months and i was pretty pissed about that...so i quit getting the refurbished ones and got a 320gb slim

I'm debating whether I should get the slim or the old 60gb when I send mine in. The slim has a bigger HD and is cheaper ($99 vs the $130 for the 60gb). I have a PS2 so the backwards compatibility isn't too big of a deal but I feel like I'd be losing something by not getting the 60gb......

I'm on my 2nd xbox and even that ones been sent in. No problems for a long time though, and all was covered by warranty.

It's the same one that died actually. On me. Bastard. Anyways the only reason I held on to it is because it's backwards compatible. My other playstation is still trucking, thank god.

What I find alarming is that, by and large, people seem to be accepting of the fact that the hunk of junk they spent $300 on can break and the manufacturer can tell the end user to go screw themselves.
