I do. Or did rather... I uh, went to swap processors(unnecessarily I might add. I have an obsession with tinkering) and fried my computer. So, I have rendered myself unable to fly. Where do you typically fly? Are you on fs9 or fsx? Squawkbox or FSInn?

Unless you play the game solely for the flying, no. Although I have heard it has some pretty good flight mechanics.

Closest thing I played to a flight sim was IL Sturmovik. I played the **** out of that game a while back. Always had trouble landing though.

Way to go. How'd you fry it?
I typically fly.. everywhere in NA. I do both 9 and X, both SB and FSInn. I'm also a ZFW controller. You?

gonna reinstall Il2 1946 when I finish my new build. Might get Cliffs of Dover as well. Just need to get a decent joystick first.

I have MS Flight Sim X, but I'm terrible at it because of the lack of a Flight Stick.

say i get a new joystick, because lawl all you want before i got a new computer i actually used a xbox controller to play flight sim when i first started it. anyways, any recomendations for a flight stick thats not too expensive and layout for best controls on it? im not sure what everything is in the cab and i dont even land properly i just line it up and lower my flaps/throttle accordingly. i also want it to look better than just standard fsx, so should i get REX? and wtf is fsinn or squawkbox?

I have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, found at Best Buy for around $30. Had it 2 years or so and it works great. Before you get REX, I suggest you ensure your system can handle it (I'm sure it can.) Squawkbox and FSInn are used to connect to VATSIM to fly online.
If you want some help learning to fly, PM me and I'll be more than happy. I'm not great, but I'm decent..

Their FlightSim quicklooks always make me laugh. Alot for some reason. I personally don't play them but find them interesting.

Best way to get the most from FSX is to have a good CPU. FSX is a CPU based performance, rather than GPU. Anywhere from 3.3GHz and up and you "should" be good. Lot of guys I know run 3.5-3.8 and they can run everything on ultra high.
Now for add ons, would you rather have airplanes that fly and look damn near realistic, or have scenery to where the world looks pretty? UTX is nice, I have it.. adds a lot of general environmental scenery. If you're looking into scenery for specific airports, look into FSDreamTeam or FlyTampa. They're some of the best out there, if you don't mind spending the money (or torrent).
For airplanes, it depends what you want. PMDG does an awesome job with a small variety of planes (747, 737, 737NGX, MD-11, J41 and B1900's). Feelthere/Wilco does some nice Airbus series and Embraer jets. There are others out there with other random planes, just gotta search.
There is so many different ways to set up FSX, it just all depends what you want!

Well, I'm running a laptop with a Intel T6600 running at 2.2, and it's okay. I can run fsx with low-med settings, with aircraft/wx on high.

I have been wanting a good combat flight sim that has a good online multiplayer userbase. I use to play F-16 MRF/Mig-29 Fulcrum/F-22 Raptor, but those are damn near 15 years old.
