first off, you are definitely more experienced in this field than i am.

secondly, although my experience is limited i feel like its important to mention that each manufacturer although having the same end result, they reach this result in a different (or similar) way.

power, ground, signal yeah thats all there is to an electrical system, but without understanding how the manufacturer designed the system to work, you really can't apply how VW does things to say BMW or Mercedes to test the system.

i guess this is something i've learned working at a independent shop. you can't fix something if you dont understand how it works. especially when it comes to electrical diagnosis.

and maybe its just me... but from hearing what my coworkers have to say about dealerships i'd really rather staying at my current indy shop because of the hourly pay and laid back atmosphere. the only thing keeping me from staying at the indy is my ambition to become master certified at a mercedes dealership (and my ****in tickets that should clear next year)

i've already said that.

i do. every day. 10 hours a day. to 11 different car lines.

i guess this is something i've learned working at a independent shop. you can't fix something if you dont understand how it works. especially when it comes to electrical diagnosis.

my dealership was way more laid back than my indy. and i made more money at $15 and then again at $18/hr there with benefits than i do now; plus 8 ASE's and 9.50 an hour and minus the benefits except for vacation time.

That is why I said what I said. You guys all dealt with it in the past, I'm dealing with it right now, so I figured my point of view difference would be of assistance.

Decided Im going to keep my truck.

This was the highlight of my day...and also answered one of my questions.

Broke a coworkers snap-on 18mm swivel impact in the first 2 seconds of using it, trying to do this...

A swivel impact socket in general sounds like something would fail pretty often, I would think.

that being said i only own 3/8" swivel impacts. i don't need or use them in 1/2" because snapon makes such a beast of a 3/8" impact in both air and cordless that i don't use my 1/2" gun more than once every 4-5 months.

matcos sockets in general suck but their newer swivel sockets are much nicer and dont break since they dont have a pin

no not really. you get quite a few years out of them before they work less well or break

This was a 3/8ths swivel that I was using with a 1/2 adapter on my SnapOn gun.

i'm aware. the pinless ones are the ones i've broken. not at the joint, but it's just as broken when the socket itself flies apart.

you've never broken a socket aside from pins on swivel sockets?

that's more impressive.

on that note. last friday i sheared the anvil straight off my snap on long 3/8" flex head ratchet. gears didn't slip or break, just sheared the anvil right off flush with the faceplate.

maybe once or twice over the past 10 years. I have sheared an anvil on snap-on ratchet like that before. but it was on my long flex head.

My CT4410 is pretty damn worn out. Running the 18v on it all the time seems to wear it out much quicker.
