What? What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? If you're trying to turn off the DRL's you can't with the headlight switch, Mk5 and Up are CAN BUS based computer systems, and DRL's must be turned off using Vag-Com.

Never heard of that. Everybody I've ever heard has used a simple Vag-Com code change to turn off DRL's

I received a call from Park Place Lexus for a job as a Valet today. Usually they hire UTI students in as Valets or Car Wash people, then move them into tech positions when they graduate. For me, that's only 12 weeks away, so it's not too long to be the store *****. Plus I'd bet the pay (and the tips) is/are much better. I missed her since I was at work, but I'm calling back tomorrow and hopefully setting up an interview the next day.
Slowly but surely...

got a weird one in guys. 2002 Toyota camary 3.0L. Originally came in for p0420 and p0430, scan tool data indicated bad cats. We replaced the cats, wide bands, and o2s all at the same time. Scan tool data all reads as it should, nothing is out of spec but we still keep getting p0420 & p0430. We've even taken it to the Toyota dealer and their lead tech couldn't figure it out. They took screen shots of the data and sent that to Toyota, even has the guys from corporate Toyota scratching their heads. Any ideas/suggestions?

Dealer cats, or aftermarket? If anything other then all factory parts were used then there is your problems. Your cats, air/fuel sensors, and o2 sensors all need to be oem parts. Absolutely no way around it.
I would hope that would have been Toyotas first question, but you never know.

why did you replace the sensors if you thought the cats were bad?

I used to as well. If I had to remove a pipe with a sensor installed in it or near it, I recommended replacement of the sensor as well.
In the area I live in, we deal with a lot of rust, rot, and wear. at least 50% of the time if you replaced a pipe and had to disturb the o2 sensor, it would be back within a week for a heater circuit fault. Those heater circuits inside the o2 are super fragile, and they would always become damaged from moving the o2 around.

To buy 72" box with hutch or not?
I'm early in my career, and I do plan to make it just that, my career. So i don't want to go buying a bigger box as i need it, only to need a bigger one in a few years. So my idea is to just buy the only box I should ever need for the rest of my life, while still having some room for growth by adding a side locker or two when needed.
Thoughts?

That's a tough one. On one hand I agree buying a good size box and growing into it isn't a bad idea, but on the other hand, I've seen a lot of guys come and go in the field who had every intention of making this their career. If you truly believe this will be your choice of career for the majority of your life, then I would do it, but be completely sure so you aren't making payments on 10 thousand dollars for something you used to need at your last job...
what sucks for me is I have a pretty expensive tool box, and while I do currently use it, I work for one of the very few BMW dealerships in the area that aren't supplied tool boxes, so if I ever move to a different center, I'll have to store or sell my box, which I really don't want to do.
In other news, I had a repeat front main seal leak that ended up being an out of round block. Most techs are probably familiar with timing covers, but our motors do not use a timing cover, it's all one block. So, I was authorized to just replace a block and 6 pistons, and to reuse the crank and rods with new bearings. Started my tear down yesterday. **** ton of work.
That table is bad *** though. Subframe, motor, trans, transfer case, differential, everything out the bottom. Then I unbolt the trans, and the table slides it away from the engine. Very quick to remove engines using this.

I've never really bought into the whole Tool Truck box mystique and have always been skeptical of spending 10k on 1200lbs of steel. I was talking with a fellow tech of mine, and he told me about this company he has been researching heavily.
http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/mon...box-hutch.html
There are tons of reviews online on multiple websites, and not a single one has anything bad to say about them and says that they are on par with Snap-on/Mac/Matco boxes for under half the price. So I've pretty much made up my mind about going that route, right now it's just a matter of going 56" or 72", but I think I'll be happier with the 72".
And much like you, I plan on getting into an Import Luxury and/or High Performance dealer, and in the event that I do get into a shop that supplies boxes, it wouldn't break my back keeping my box at home and having it in the event I leave that dealer/shop.

It starts going back together today. Today is the day where I bust out the feeler gauges in the bottom of my box and get on with the mind numbing checking, double checking, and triple checking of everything. The most annoying thing is that when I ordered my pistons, they sent them with rings already installed, so now I need to remove all the rings to check ring end gap, then re install them. Time consuming.
