EF Civic with DOHC ZC

bought it almost a year ago, and now i'm having to go through hoops to get it running the way it should. I recently got a new dizzy, and i just bought a timing belt and some adjustable cam gears. it already has a full exhaust, dc sports headers, buddy club short shifter, nrg heavyweight shift knob, and a custom tuned ecu. i'm looking to find some cams, but bisimoto seems to be the only one making anything for the DOHC zc. any suggestions for added performance?

What is this custom tuned ecu? Why does it have adjustable cam gears on a stock engine? Cams on a stock engine is a waste of time and$$$. Go to go-autoworks.com and buy yourself a turbo kit, don't even look at eBay for a kit you don't want to keep adding bull**** to your car. And I suggest getting a stock ecu.

my custom tune is basically the stock mapping for the JDM motor, but with extras, like launch control and no speed limiter. if i buy a turbo, i am going to have to get cams anyway, so either way i'm looking for them. this is my daily, and i'm just trying to run better than those sohc vtec *******s that think they are hot ****.

Don't bother modding a D. You're not going to get a whole lot out of it.

Try to see how cheap you could put together a b20vtec setup though, those are actually pretty impressive and can be cheap

Stock D16 with a TD04 should see you safely to 250-260bhp / 210-220whp.

i'd love a b20v, but for me to get one set up locally it would no doubt be over 1k

Why do you have launch control on a stock engine? Why do you think you need cams with a turbo? Legit question.... Is this your first car? You couldn't ever run with the single cam guys I know.

launch control was just for fun, it came free with the pm7 chip and socketing job. and from what i've read, a cam designed for turbo is better for the engine. and no, its not my first car. my first car was a euro '58 volkswagen beetle.

The cam isn't absolutely necessary for all turbo cars. It's not going to be any better or worse for the engine inherently, it will just move power up or down the rev range.

Hence the empi ok. You don't need cams, unless you are wanting 500 hp then I can see it. If they fit in the zc get some vitara pistons with good rods, a go autoworks turbo kit and ditch your ecu get a stock one. Get it all put together and have a good shop tune it, it will be the best 400 bucks you have ever spent.

my overall goal for the car isn't to make it a track monster, I just want something fun for a daily. its more of a "how much can i get from what i have with a low budget" kind of situation
