Now HK is selling shoes, harnesses and every apparel under the sun just like any other paintball brand becuase they realized it was extreamly lucrative.
I'm not saying theres anything wrong with a little capltalism in paintball..just that it seems that at some pint (apparently a long time ago) HK was cool becuase they were NOT a brand..they were just a group of friends who loved to play paintball and party blah blah blah.
It's sad to see the rebels of paintball sellout so much for money..since thats the one thing they said they were always against.
I honestly wish the really old HK army website was still around. The one where it just simply said what they stood for and then a link to a list of names.
I guess just like anything else in life, ideology easily folds when there's money to be made.
Discuss if ya want, I dont really care.
Before I ask you to show me your badge number, let me explain a few things...
First of all, we still rock hard, party hard and play locally. If you were in tune with HK and what we do now, I think you'd have a better understanding of what we have evolved into, rather than labeling us as "sell outs."
This is true that we manufacture performance gear and started a lifestyle clothing brand within the industry, however, what you fail to notice is what we do to push the sport and paintball lifestyle we started as kids. Aging is inevitable, and so is the necessity for income, so we finally came to the crossroads of deciding whether to sink or swim. Do you really think we could be cutting the nets at SC Village, sneaking on the fields, drinking beer and over shooting rival teams until we turned 50?
If we didn't make HK a brand we would have dissolved like the previous legends before us. We chose to swim. So we continued to create cool stuff that our friends and peers liked to wear. We still stand for those basic principles, but now we have evolved into a smarter beast. One of our main objectives is to spread the word of paintball, hence, making sweet videos that actually makes paintball look cool to the players and outside spectators. We also started bridging into the music world to spread the word. Not to mention how we host the most epic paintball clinics where we LOSE money, just to show kids that there is fun in this sport and it's not about being a lame *** pro team with politics, it's about rocking with friends and for love of the game. And if you think we've lost our mojo, then I gladly invite you to the next HK streetball day, free of charge, so you can see how much we've "sold out."
This is our way to prolong the HK name and pass on the torch to the new generations of paintballers. I'm sorry if you don't get it... but Love us, hate us, I'll still buy you a beer at the bar. And now give me your badge number copper.
