People react to the QEV like it is AIDS or something. I shot an ego8 all last year. Never had any problem with the QEV and I was playing at least every weekend, sometimes twice a weekend and shooting about 2 cases each time (you can do the math on how many shots). The only maitenance on the QEV is that you take it apart every once in a while and clean it out. I did mine a couple weeks ago on my ego7 and it took me 10 minutes. I may do that every 6 months or so if I use that gun every time I play (which I don't). Don't let the QEV stop you.

As for the Ego9, many consider it one of the worst ego platforms. It had problems with paint breaking. That is why PE released the planks and barbs kit that was given to every registered Ego9 owner for free. Still, not everyone got them and if you buy an ego9, you can't be sure if you have them or not until you actually have the gun and you can check.

IMO, if you want an ego, go with either the 7,8, or 10.

and for the OP.... I have owned both an etek 3 and an ego 08(check my feedback if you don't believe me) and I can honestly say that the Ego 8 that I had way outperformed the Etek 3. I liked how it felt more ergonomically, and how it shot. I had problems with the etek shooting when degassing/gassing. Not to mention it was abnoxious to shoot.

The only major differences between the two is the composite frame, eye covers, and feedneck. Internally and externally, the Etek 3 is almost identical to the EGO 7 and 8, if the Etek 3 is comparedwiththe EGO8, the main differences are the solenoid, the regulator, the barrel, and the board. The Etek 3 includes a Shaft III barrel, with minimal porting and less milling, it includes a "S3" regulator with a self purging feature The S3 is also included in the EGO9 and EGO10. The solenoid on the Etek 3 is the same solenoid that has been used in the past Etek Markers, but the solenoid has now been modified to be a manifold that sits directly underneath the rammer housing,therefore speedingup recharge rates and eliminating the need of QEV's. The Etek 3 has an LED board similar to the Etek 2 board, but it now has more adjustability.

i shot an etek 3 am this sunday. it had a freak barrel with a .689 insert, cure 4, and zick 2.
most impressive ego i've ever shot. no kick, quiet, fast and responsive. i also got to shoot an 11 and it was just as amazing.

with the right ups, i think the etek 3 can outperform older model egos.

this is coming from a kid who hates eclipse preoducts.
i think the geos are **** and every ego from 05 to 09 is ****.

Eteks are not egos. The part are not compatable. Also, the ego8 is considered to be the best ego platform pre 2011. Don't believe me? Go watch a psp or NPPL event and you will see that players shooting egos will shoot either an ego11 or an ego8 for the majority.

you should shoot them for yourself and then make a decision based on your likes. IMO Ego 08. And for anyone who says you can't find 08 Ego parts anymore you're an idiot. People should really think about what they are saying before they say it or just not say it at all.

I shoot an 07 ego, and i am completely satisfied. Although I haven't played with an etek 3 yet, I see more people at the park with big egos and egos over eteks. Hope that helps.

08 rarely have probs and eteks are loud as ****. had a black red 08 and it was quieter than my bros dm9. get a well broken in 08 and yuo will be set fo life

have you ever shot a geo before? your probably one of those kids who have an uppd g3 and just think its the **** cuz honestly coming from a gunwhore whos shot every eclipse gun from 07-11(yes including etek2, and 3's) and there is nothing in common between a geo and g3 besides the fact they both shoot paintballs.That post alone just proves everyone else's point about how uninformed you are.
