So if one of them collapses, the teams would then either A) try to restart it again in some way, or B) join the other league. I'd prefer to see B happen. If it did, do you think there'd be any difference in how the pro/semi-pro/d1 lists work out than if there was a merger?

I think any collapse will occur mid-season, and teams will scramble for spots after that, or give up in frustration.

That's unfortunate. Anything that involves one of the leagues leaving mid season and "Screwing" teams over is just plan wrong.

Well, the only teams that would be screwed would be the ones who paid a year's entry up front.

And I almost think those teams deserve what they get. For being dumb.

Not true Jeff - teams that "Invest" in one format over the other by playing those events - with the hopes of building up their standings and then moving up the ladder - they get screwed by "wasting" their time in a league that is no longer there.

As you put it - they'd be left to scramble to fill the slots in the other league.

Take this year for instance - say the PSP closes up shop - we (187) might get screwed based on the fact that we may (based on results from WC) earn our pro slot, but would the NPPL honor that in their league - I'd guess not - it's a different format and its entirely possible that we'd not preform as well in that league as we did in PSP.

If you look at each event as a stand alone event - I guess no one gets screwed. However, I'm looking at a much larger pictures / timeframe. And in fact, I think you are too.

This is a game. We elect to play because we want to. This will never pay the mortgage. In fact, I'm not sure it will ever pay for a cup of coffee. So if something you do for fun changes .... do something else for fun.

wow jeff.. Kinda makes me sad that you would say that. Seems like your in the slumps. I think that one league would be better. You never know if they will merge or not until the day comes. Just gotta keep your hopes up and stay motivated I mean your the owner of the Hurricanes for **** sakes why are you talkin like that? Yeah paintball is paying out anymore but thats just through the industry if you wanna get paid for doing something that is "fun" then go outside the industry and promote different events and make a dollar threw that. take HK and music for example. I'm just saying that you have one of the best teams out there and your acting like this game doesnt matter.. Just be glad of what you got because you could have a D3 team

This game doesn't matter. Regardless of what level your playing at or want to be playing at. It's purely recreation.

If the format changes and your no longer having fun throwing thousands of dollars away....you find a new hobby.

Well, to that end, what does matter, beyond family and health?

Your job is just your job. Regardless of what it is. If you don't like it, for whatever reason, you move on.

Your home is just a house. When it ceases to serve your needs....

I think having a hobby you enjoy is just as meaningful as having a pet.

Yes sir..I'm afraid so. The D1 boys just don't want it. Done trying to force them. Some will host with RNT Allstarz. It was a memorable ride, met lots of close friends, and walk away with no regrets... I know I gave it my all.

Any insight to this? My hiatus is coming to close and entered the final decision making process. Jeffs "Mr Stein" word/opinion is very much appreciated and respected! After the NEPL Photo blog occurred I added a new dimension to what I'm looking for.
