Have leaders who listen to people who know the job if they dont.

Allow senior NCO's enough time to properly mentor their junior NCO's who in turn go and mentor the lower enlisted soldier.

Force people who "sit on a slot" with their perm profiles and are over all good for nothings out of the army to open up slots for those who can handle the task.

Treasure a soldier's time. Its pointless to have a soldier sit around all day doing nothing and then at 1600 come up with a laundry list of things that need to be done by 1700. Or worse have said soldier do nothing for days on end then get pissed off when he doesn't know a basic task. Instead take that "do nothing" time and schedule quality NCO led MOS training/low density training/ useful **** training as opposed to filling it with bull**** details that get nothing done for that soldier's individual career.

Have company level leaders who aren't just "focused on the numbers" lead. It completely destroys a unit when the only time the commander cares is when it impacts his "numbers".

Have some common sense about things. If i just pulled an all night shift. Dont call me in at 0900 to tell me about something that I have another week to get done.

those are just my ideas off the top of my head.

nothing pissed me off more than to stare at the walls from 1000-1600 hrs then find out i've got some bull**** to do.
give me ****ing courses.
i don't care what, i don't care where just give me something.
and another thing. i don't want to ****ing run every god damn ****ing day.
seriously, it shows that you lack creativity. i once went and played dodgeball with tacvest and rucksack on. that was ****ing awesome.
and if there's battalion sports teams? actually let the guys go ****ing play on them. if there's no ranges/field work/course going on that day, there shouldn't be any reason to hold it back. that was a huge spot for battalion pride to me. knowing that i played/coached on the best rugby, hockey, and marathon teams in the brigade was always a sense of pride that no ****ing cap badge could ever show off.

Yea... I think it's an Army wide problem where if you keep doing a lot better than everyone else you will be told to stop.

when we hit the range at al asad we had a small little familiarization with a few people and they were holding it like a ****ing woman because it was heavy and kicked them back (standing)
... I hate where the army is going. Also... I realized today that the SAW is a stupid weapon. It's not a very good automatic rifle and it's not a very good machine gun. A beefed up M4 (like heavier barrel/ receiver/ buffer) that was full auto and fed by 50 round mags would be better suited to the "automatic rifle" roll being lighter, less bulky, and reloads faster... with something that doesn't fall off randomly. And it's a sissy machine gun with it's 5.56 round.

Yes. We have guys going to the board who aren't ready simply because other platoons are sending their **** heads to the board.

Force people who "sit on a slot" with their perm profiles and are over all good for nothings out of the army to open up slots for those who can handle the task.

Why is it that so many of us think the same way but our leaders can't get these simple ideas through their heads?

I'm going to have to remember the dodgeball in armor thing... that's great.

What is dark side?..

Also about the SAW.. yes the thing is a POS.. give me an MK48 or 46 would be fine since I don't really fell like hauling a **** ton of 7.62

...We got our 1151 missions back.. so we're running 2 'missions' again..

It's super gay. We just find random **** / houses and go in and search them.. no particular reason other than we've got a timeline to burn for being outside the wire

edit: also my PL is a ****in tard.. we were dismounted following the trucks through a market at like 0100 a few days ago and he goes "there's nobody out here.. this is unusual" .. over the radio.. everyone looked at their watches went

haha that's fantastic, we had our "senior" scout do that at the beginning of our tour, this was before he was kicked out of our platoon for losing nods though

Im not even a SGT or anything like that. I just look at the situation and objectively think about how I would do it better... Its really not that hard its just higher folks then I want to keep things the same for themselves. Why would I ruin my cushy do nothing job to benefit the privates and specialists below me. Less work for me = no time wasted and thus better cost/benefit analysis on my part.... The difference I would say is that the majority of my SGT's and above are either unprepared, i.e. to new to the army to really be a SGT, or completely and hopeless lost in life, i.e. they didnt get out because they have nothing else available to them....

The army could be awesome.... so awesome...

it's hard for me to hear about the **** you guys deal with then tell my soldiers that it's better "out there... away from the cav".
