Diffrence in Poppets

I got a G6r in a trade and have no idea if the poppet he has in it is the LP poppet or the stock one. I tried looking at pictures and they look the same. Any idea how i can tell? Reason i ask was he told me it was stock then i find a pooty mod'ed bolt in it. Thinking maybe he didn't know what he had.

LP poppet has a hex end, and is the poppet shaft is silver. Stock has a brass looking shaft.

Just got my lp poppet in the mail put it side by side and even took the calipers to them and i can find no difference at all between them. Can anyone explain what make an lp poppet different then stock.

Well, the main difference is the length. A LP Poppet is going to be longer. The stock poppets are a brass color and the LP's are a silver color.

I get that the lp poppet is silver and the stock is brass color. Has been touched on. Im talking about size, weight, length. I have both of them sitting right in front of me being someone who likes to tinker and figure out "why". I can see no difference between the too poppets i got. So can anyone explain the science behind it or did i just spend the money to get the poppet in silver?

The LP poppet is longer, so that means the mechanical dwell of the gun will be longer due to the valve opening sooner letting more air out when using the same electrical dwell. Which results in a different sound sig, and a softer shot but will a small lose to your efficiency.

There are many threads covering the differences in the LP and stock poppet. Feel free to research.

Ya, might be kind of confusing. It's just longer which means when the ram strikes it will hold the valve open longer and let more air pass through, so you use more air (efficiency) but are able to drop the pressures (smoother shot).

That is correct. The increased mechanical dwell from the valve being opened longer allows higher velocity per given hight pressure regulator setting than the stock poppit.

Understand what it does i did the research before i ordered one.

Everyone has said its longer so it does yada yada.. and so on i was just surprised when it arrived i put it side by side next to my stock poppet and they appeared to me that were exactly the same size. So i put them on a level surface and put a level across them and it was level. Confused i Got some Calipers and measured and they were both the same according to the calipers.

So in conclusion either the length difference is very small and i cant see it or Ive gone full retard and i can't use my tools.

It was just a curiosity.

It is a noticeable difference visually....
It's not HUGE, but you can tell it is longer.

Or two normal ones and they screwed up. Both alternatives are possible.
