They're also dropping their mobile device support in the near future, leaving WebOS stranded in the breeze.

no HP's bread and butter is consulting

Enterprise Servers, Storage & Networking $18.6bn
Enterprise Services $34.9bn
Software Division $3.5bn

If this stock gets any lower it will be a steal. All they are doing is trimming the fat on an industry that is dead. PaaS and IaaS is going to kill the desktop computer so investing that much is pointless. Might as well focus on what matters down the road.

The future computer isn't a tablet it's going to be the size of a memory stick that connects to cloud services and sync's up with a screen the size of a sheet of paper to display stuff.

dont forget hp bought out compaq a few years ago

worst move ever to buy out compaq then kill the brand name off. they could have used the compaq line to sell low end pc. hp used to be number one in printers but now it lexmark and soon it will be kodax.

The sad thing is that I was actually really considering an Envy 14 as my next laptop. I guess I'm going to have a to raise a bit more for that macbook or see if Asus spits something amazing out.

They're offering everyone a complete refund or the price cut difference. That's something they didn't have to do. I don't think you can complain too much.

With no timeline for when in sight. They should have trimmed it down and offered solid units at each price without doing the 20 models for best buy, 12 for staples, 8 for walmart approach.

Decisions like this is why IBM and HP are such solid companies. Great move for HP's medium to long term future.
