Changing Major

So I'm about to go into my third year as an Athletic Training major and after doing some introspect, I've found that this isn't the right major for me.

As of right now, I'm pretty deep into the major although the school I attend has a program for AT that you have to apply for/be accepted into and I won't be accepted and start the program until August 2012.

So, any thoughts on me changing my major and do you think its a little too late

Well I'm changing my major from athletic training to biology and some of the pre-req's for AT correlate with biology.

Talk with your adviser and see how much of what youve done so far counts towards your new major and take his advice from there.

However, my previous post still stands. Be prepared to stay an extra year

Switching after 2 years is not impossible, if you'll be happier as a bio major, then go for it. I was even thinking about switching after 3 years, but at that point, it's way too late to catch up in a reasonable amount of time.

In the end, just do what makes you happy. An extra 1-2 years is nothing compared to the rest of your life spent doing something you don't like...

absolutely, and like he said again above, talk with your adviser before making that decision. I have a bunch of friends who changed major and ended up staying about 6 years rather than 4.5. When you talk with your adviser, see how many of your credits will transfer. Your Gen Eds should all transfer but your major credits won't unless there's a couple classes you had to take for your major/the major you are planning on switching into.

I'm in this same situation.

I just started my Junior year after not getting into the Graphic Design Program last spring. They told me to stick around and apply next year (which would be spring of this year) But I don't feel happy or confident that I can compete with the other people in my classes.

I'd much rather sell people the products and go into Advertising or Sales...

Since I didn't get into the program, I'm already going to be a 5th year senior, so I figure I might as well change my major now while I still can.

I'm talking to my advisor today.
