Getting back into the sport, suggestions.
Wow I haven't been on this site in almost 10 years. I used to play on a pro-am team back in early 2000's but had to leave the sport. I am looking at getting back into it, probably just for recreation but mainly speedball, maybe a little woods if I'm forced into it. Ive been looking at purchasing a marker and I was a little bit taken back by the new guns and manufactures. I guess autocockers and angels arent the best on the block any more. Looks like almost everything has an electronic trigger now, which i like.
So which markers are the reccomended ones anymore? I'm looking for something around 500-700 bucks. Something that is good for rec ball but will hold it's own if I do start playing in tourneys. Ive been looking at Planet Eclipse's EGO. the new ones are out of my price range but a used 07-08 model I might be able to swing. It looks a little small to me though, I used to play with an Autococker then an Impulse shortly before I quit. These were pretty meaty guns and thats sort of what I was used to. Not that I have anything against going with a lighter gun. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi, welcome back to the site/sport! Things have chenged by leaps and bounds in the last 10 years. Pretty much all decent guns are electronic now. I won't give you any gun specific tips unless this thread gets moved to the vs forum (mods don't like vs threads outside of there). I will say there are better choices in your price range than the Geo. Cruise the bst forum here and see what is out there in your price range, tons of used high ends. Lots of Bob Longs and Planet Eclipse, MacDev, etc. Narrow it down to a few you like and then look in the review section. Then get people's opinions. That way you can look through the bias and personal preferance a little better. Good luck!

Ignore him. they are good markers, but any, and I mean any electronic marker out there will not make you better then anybody else, and is now all down to personal preference and budget. (don't get me wrong, there is still **** out there, but really any major manufacturer out there is putting out a decent quality product)
As far as new markers go, you will have to shoot em to see if you like them. Everything from a Dangerous power G4 for 200 dollars to the new Planet eclipse for 1300+ all shoot paint at 300fps. They are no more accurate then any decent marker out there today. They work differently, and feel different, so find what you like.
And yes, people still play with cockers

Is your budget for the gun itself $5-700 or that for the setup? Keep in mind with electronic markers you need an electronic force feed hopper, and an air tank. You must run high pressure air.
For the gun the options are endless, but a used high end is the best choice. And egos are small compared to your average cocker or angel lcd. They do have excellent ergonomics and are light so you will easily get used to them. For the loader get an invert too ($70) and a ninja 68/45 ($160). If you want to splurge then get one of the superloaders, but they all cost $100+ brand new. I personally find them useless since you dont need their insane feed rates when your gun is capped at 12.5bps anyways and when a $70 hopper can still easily feed into the 20s bps and not jam (i own an invert too and have only ever had 1 jam with it, I frequently see people with their dye rotor jamming). The rotor is an overpriced superloader btw.

thanks guys, all very helpful information. I think I might just go ahead and splurge a bit and get a luxe. I shot one the other day and loved it.

Luxe's are great guns man. Just make sure you have a LP(low pressure) tank.

Why? Luxes run on hp fine and are actually recommended by the factory to use hp.

Great choice, luxes are gorgeous visually and excellent mechanically. Treat it like a newborn and it will last you a lifetime.
