Stuff you SHOULDN'T bring to college

Try to help out us freshman and save us some headaches.

Similar to "stuff you should bring" except the opposite. This is the stuff you brought, thinking how much you'd use it or how awesome it will be having it there, but then you didn't use it, it was easily broken, took up to much room, or whatever.

Don't bring anything with your high school on it, that's just weird... you're in college now, time to let go.

You don't need 20 pairs of shoes. You are not a chick... don't bother. Your clothes and shoes will end up getting jacked, don't make it easy for them.

Porn. The internet exists and there are plenty of girls there ready to get busy... Don't be that guy with a box of DVDs or toilet trash.

Condoms. They pretty much provide them to students anywhere you go. We had a community bin that had thousands right outside the RA office and the commons area. You look like a douche when you show up with the sams club 300 pack.

Printers. You can print what you need anywhere with a flash drive for free. Most floors have a printer you can print to. It is a waste of space and your money when you go through ink.

Cars. This isn't always the case but usually parking is non existent. You will end up being the ***** for rides pretty much everywhere. Parking permits are usually expensive. Part of the college experience is generally the transportation deal.

Bikes. Again, its all on the college. There are certain colleges that are super bike friendly and the campus is so spread out that it makes sense. Most university campuses have pretty good bus systems and the walk for a freshman isn't bad. It's one more thing to keep in your dorm room if there isn't a bike lockup.

Condoms. Never hurts to have a pack of trojans. maybe not the 300 pack but at least something

Printer. That is definitely not always true.

Bikes. Can be great for getting around to places. door-to-door "service". But it does depend on your campus. Just make sure you have a good lock (and a kryptonite u-lock is not that great, trust me)

... If you are on an American college campus, you are never more than 2 minutes away from free condoms.

Printers are pointless for the same reasons as condoms. That and people will use you for printing of you are closer.... Which eats into beer money.

I worked at a bike shop in college and I didn't bike on campus. Too many people, not enough secure areas, and enough shady ****s who will steal anything. I have had my fixy stripped to the frame my first month of freshman year... It's not worth it. Half the **** we used to sell was because of dirt bags with sticky fingers.

Also, have fun with a flat halfway across campus (broken chain, derailleur cable, bent hanger).

Your own office chair. (I did this and while i was super comfy all year it really took up too much space and i could have easily lived without it).
...some kid brought his own bed freshman year.

MAYBE:
Printer, theres times when you gotta print like a 1 or 2 page thing for class...that $40 printer works wonders, and when people ask if they can print their 30 page notes, say "**** off". Also, my $40 printer has a scanner which is awesome for copying bull**** assignments off of people.

OTHER:
Make your room mate bring the game systems, less stuff of yours to get jacked. Say yours broke or something... ALSO, dont let people borrow controllers or games, youll never see them again

ill add more as it comes up

Yes no varsity jackets please, I used to due track at school before a bad injury and it killed me when I saw some schmuck walking with a high school varsity jacket on especially if it was track, you look like a massive tool and you probably sucked.

This.

One of my best friends wears "[High School] Wrestling" or [High School] Cross Country" t-shirts to parties sometimes. I'm like lolwut?

I'll bring t-shirts from high school with me, but they're gym shirts.

Totally disagree - a lot of people bicycle to and from class. It's healthy for you and cheap. You also don't have to deal with parking, which can be a real pain in the ***. This is especially true if you won't be living on campus in the dorms.

Yea I disagree completely. Unless you live in the dorms every year(which, at least at my school, is a little weird in itself), chances are you will be at least a small distance from campus. Walking takes a lot longer to get to class.

And I guess I don't see how it makes you look like a tool, either. Explain?

Yeah, bikes are a handy way of getting around town/campus... don't see the whole "tool" thing...

Also, as someone said before, don't bring a girlfriend. Brought down my entire first semester.
