Eye In The Sky

The time when teams in scenario events will
be able to afford to put eyes in the sky may
be just around the corner. I'm not talking
about a Parrot Drone, but something that's
a cut or two above that and for not much
more money. Here's some details on what
looks to be on a lot of Christmas wish lists
this year.

To be released by Horizon Hobby just in time for Christmas a
competitor for the DJI Phantom the current king of the ready
to fly GoPro capable multirotors that has been on the market
since January 2013. Parrot might be kicking themselves that
they have not created a slightly more capable AR.Drone that
can lift a GoPro out of the box without modifications.

GPS hold and return to launch all for the very reasonable price
of $469 just a shade over $200 cheaper than the Phantom. If
you already have a TX you can buy a bind and fly version for
$419 350 QX 3qrterlet the GoPro quadcopter price wars begin!

Key Features

•SAFE™ technology provides three flight modes with the
flip of a switch

•Smart Mode with GPS/altitude hold, stick relativity and
the innovative SAFE circle

•Stability Mode with flight envelope protection and GPS
hold

•Agility Mode for aerobatics and aggressive flying

•Return Home function automatically lands at the home
position

•GoPro® compatible anti-vibration camera mount* included
(camera not included)

•Intelligent motor control automatically stops the propellers
upon impact with an object.

•Ready-to-Fly out of the box with a Spektrum™ DX5E
transmitter, 3S 2200mAh LiPo battery and charger

10X Zoom

Here's yet another example of what hobbyists are
now doing. Clip was shot from approximately 300
meters, while plane flew in 200 meter wide orbit.
Camera has 10 X zoom lens.

Enjoy!

Andy,
We can have an eye in sky... or eyes on the ground now that my rc tank is finished. With the barrel cam, one could potentially see inside buildings and bunkers. All that can be accomplished by rolling the rc tank into it.

where is the camera. Next upgrade? Logical step.

An internet controlled paintball tank may be in my future. Close circuit audio and video so I can communicate with players on the field and command and control.

Just ship it to the game. Pay the fee, Add paint, fill the air, push the ON button. Go play from my nursing home bed.... Until my heart rate sets off the cardiac alarm....

lmao, if I saw that RC tank come in my building, I'd sneak up behind it and put a barrel bag on it. XD

I get a real kick out of the attitude of some players, who for
whatever reason either don't see the advantages or the value.

Reminds me of the British at the start of WW I, who still favored
the use of horse calvary. I'll settle for just one of those German
Maschinengewehr 08, a copy of Hiram Maxims 1884 Maxim Gun.
(Reference- movie War Horse) any day.

The camera was sitting off to the side. I have it installed already and will try to get some updated pics. It's also getting some upgrades to make more robust than it already is. The terrain at Oklahoma D-Day really beat the snot out of some of the mechanics... and it wasn't even on the field. Next year you will see it racking up some kills.

Adaptive technology

Seems like a day doesn't go by that there's not
some new fangled invention out there. Here's a
craft that flies as well as walks. Add a camera
and a transmitter and it'll be able to video what
you're up to from both the sky as well as the
ground-
