PSP and NPPL merge
Quote:
A few weeks ago ProPaintball.com wrote about a secret meeting in Las Vegas between the NPPL and PSP. This secret meeting was called to discuss the possibility of the NPPL and the PSP finally merging. This weekend many of the top dogs of the NPPL and the PSP gathered in Pennsylvania for the UWL, and the talks continued. This time the NPPL and PSP talks have warranted a major result, the merging of the NPPL and the PSP. All that has to be done is the paperwork and logistics This news is in no way final, but we have confirmed the news with numerous pro players and a NPPL Team owners. Chuck Hendsch current CEO of the NPPL has reportedly also confirmed the merge.
There is still no word on the details. We still are all in the dark about what format will be played 7man or Race2, or how many events there will be?
The Merging of the NPPL and PSP, would make it much easier for teams to play national tournaments. Perhaps the biggest reason for merging would be sponsorships money. Money in paintball has been VERY tight over the last few years and sponsorship money has been very thin. Sponsoring two leagues form most companies is nearly impossible. One league could bring in more teams and more money, and everyone benefits from more teams and money.

Wow, I never expected this to actually happen. I wonder what this means for the formats. I like 5-man RaceTo as it is.
Edit: Hmm. Are we being punked?

Check the thread regarding this in the PSP thread, its pretty interesting.
As far as the merge goes, whatever it takes to keep this sport alive and help it thrive. I'm going to pray for 12.5 ramping and 5 man though, I personally do not want to play 7 man on semi. I'm sure a lot of PSP players would agree with me. Regardless of the technicalities of the rules and such, hopefully this will keep the sport alive on the national level.

Idk I'd rock 12.5 semi, half the players I know can't walk the trigger left handed. Lol

WWHHAAAAAAAATTTT!!???????
I was wondering why so many people asked that on the other forums as a "hypothetical" question...
Bring back 10-man in place of the 7-man semi. with 12.5 ramp or something like that. That'd be tight.
Edit: oh yeah, forgot about that. So this is a potential merger, but it hasn't happened yet.
Title and article are misleading. dangit.

15 bps capped semi, race2 format, 5 or 7 man would be interesting to see which would work out better.

My analogy on 7man vs xball
I always use this comparison when it comes to xball vs 7 man, it would be like the NBA starting a new basketball league where you didn't have to dribble, 7man being the original, and xball being the new non dribble league.

I anticipated a lot of the usual stupid debate of ramping/semi and how semi takes skill so we should do that blah blah blah. The only problem with changing the fire mode over to semi is that it is extremely difficult to enforce semi only play. Someone is always going to be finding a way around it. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that walking a trigger it isn't a skill that someone must develop, but someone is always going to be trying to cheat one way or another. I respect players who can shoot high rates of fire on semi, I promise. The era of advanced electronic boards is on us and it is just really difficult with the existence of cheater codes, soft ramping, bouncy triggers, etc. Keeping the firing mode at 12.5 ramp not only keeps the playing field level, but also lets referees take care of other things on the field.
Edit: As far as coaching goes, I anticipate the elimination of any sideline coaching, which could be good and bad.

It would be nice to keep both formats alive, there could be a 7man league and a 5man xball league within the NPSPL...
though i like YeloSno's comment about bringing back 10man :-D i'd be so down for playing an old-school 10man event!

Correct. Going to lock this, will delete shortly (in the interest of not having more of these pop up), but this is a FALSE RUMOR AT THIS TIME.
