Detailed the car yesterday. Finally had a chance to get rid of the spider webbing from the damn dealer "wash" which I specifically asked them not to do.

Wheels:
Sonax and pressure washer*

*No brushing as I will be bedding new brakes in this week so there's no point in getting them too clean

Wash:
Wash with Adam's APC
Exhaust tips cleaned with Adam's APC and a flexible brush
Clayed with Uber gray clar bar
Dry with waffle MF towels

Polish:
Meguiar's M105 with PC and Uber green pad
Meguiar's M205 with PC and Uber blue pad
Hand polished clear bra with Meguiar's PlastX

LSP:
Wipedown with IPA
Applied Aquartz Titanium (cool stuff) to paint and glass

Finishing:
Dressed tires with Adam's VRT
Treated window trim with 303 Aerospace
Polished and protected exhaust tips with Einszett Metal Polish and Wax

I'm going to put on a layer of Collinite 845 then Autoglym HD next time I wash. I wanted to let the Aquartz Titanium cure for as long as possible so I skipped those.

And, of course, pics:

Dumb question i'm sure, but oh well.

When i first got my car, i buffed it using a harbor freight buffer(lol) and meguiars ultimate compound, and i was happy with it for the price. It's starting to get hazey again though. Would i be better off taking it to a detail shop and let them work their magic, or is it just going to dull again in a months time?

Compound is meant to remove heavy scratches, but it will micro-marr the paint. After you compound, you need to polish (preferably by machine) then protect the paint through wax or paint sealant.

Done correctly, it shouldn't dull out again, at least nearly that fast.

**** auto butler. **** it so hard. Doesn't work for ****. Keeps sap/bird **** from eating away at the clear? Bull.

And guess who has to fix that crap under warranty? And also guess who doesn't get paid for it? Had to wet sand all the flat surface of a black grand marquis today. And not get paid for it.

Again. **** auto butler. The worst part is, these morons who buy it seem to think 'oh, I have auto butler, let me just leave sap on my paint for godamn 6 months, it won't cause any damage.'

God I wish. This guy seriously left pine sap, which is absolutely horrible for the paint, does more damage than any other sap I've seen, for the entire 6 months between applications, and then comes in *****ing about how he's got all these spots on his hood/roof/trunk.

Finally ordered a DA buffer, got the PC 7424 w/ Meg's 105/205 combo and a bunch of other stuff. So excited to try it out! I'll have to post some pics after the first car I do.

I've grown tired of 205. Any recommendations for replacement?

Horse Hair bristle brooms are ahhhmazing for getting the very fine dust in body shops.

Detailing the GTI tomorrow to prep for H20i on Friday. Gonna wax her with Chemical Guy's Black light.
