Emissions changes + Undercoating
Ok guys, two questions here, not really related. I just got a 2004 Mazda 3S that's had three previous owners. I know the car has lived in Cali but was sold on the east coast. Records show that it did not pass Cali emissions and then was presumably tuned to comply. I know that passing Cali emissions means reducing the horsepower and torque - my question is, would the car be re-tuned after being inspected in another state after leaving Cali? I'm just trying to figure out whether I'm actually getting the figures out of the car that I paid to have.
Second question - do you recommend any canned coatings to prevent underside rust? The underside is definitely rusty, just surface stuff on the suspension and motor/tranny along with a bit of flaking paint on the parts of the body that aren't covered with factory underside coating. Just looking for solutions to keep the rust from getting to a point where it's a problem a few years down the line as PA turns to salt city in the winter time. TIA
