Night Game Comments

Thought everyone might enjoy hearing what one
of the players has to say about D-Day's night event.

The night game is a great change from the norm.
The day games and night game have their own
attributes that make them special, and many may
like one attribute over the other. I have always
believed that D-Day week is a series of paintball
events that give something a little bit different
for each event. At D-day players fight in a valley,
a grass plain encircled by tree line, deep woods,
in a extremely defensive or offensive position on
large hills, on a large airbag field, and urban night.

This is what I love about D-Day, the diversity of
the games guarantee that all players will have a
great time in most of the games.

The night game is one of the 5th Battalion Rangers
favortites. We have been applauded by many that
they hear a scream in the night "5th Battalion!
Charge!" and then soon after an objective is taken.

The night game could be improved though. More
pyrotechnics would be a great way to add legitimacy
to the event; however, due to the dry enviroment
this may not be possible. Things that could substitute
for the fireworks are speakers that echo out large
explosive noises and large search lights that can
randomly scan the area. Random light sources
throughout the field would give players more reason
to stick to the tree line, and using covert tactics
(I have never felt more like a ninja then the times
a play the night game).

Peace from Terror

Talking about a WORR Game Sniper II?
I doubt you'd have any problems with
it, unless it went down and there wasn't
anyone there who could repair it.

Not at all. I played Saturday afternoon with my 05 Black Magic pump and shot a case and had no problems being outgunned. Why? Because I hit what I aim at! If I didn't run into MEK and run with them all morning I was going to switch to pump in the morning but with the way MEK runs (and I mean run) right at the enemy I used my NT until I had to buy more paint, then made the switch.

Oklahoma DDAY IS the scenario players Mecca, and some of the most fun you will have with your clothes on. I went in '09 for the first time (with some guys from upstate that I met on the forums) for the whole week and had an absolute blast. I returned this year bringing a friend of mine for his first time. He too had a blast, except we were somewhat disappointed in the lack of the epic end day battle for Coleville. Hope to return next year.

The chance to meet like minded people (paintball lovers) from across the country let alone the world is awesome. In the 2yrs I've went I have met people from at least 7 countries other than the US. Take the trip. You WILL NOT be dissappointed.

Hat3d1,

There are many, many players that play pump at D-Day, so no sweat there. It takes all sorts of players to fill out the unit rosters at D-Day. Come join us! You would certainly be welcome in the 6th.

If you have any questions on D-Day pump play feel free to shoot me a PM. I've played for the Germans on each beach and most of the major play areas at D-Day with my pump. The guys on here are better at answering questions about the game itself, I'm just a player, but I've played at least some pump at each D-Day I've been too and loved it.

Game changes

Just a few notes about D-Day 2012 which are going
to change things there in a BIG way.

Starting next June points will be awarded for both the
Wed. and Thurs mini scenarios. Both sides will also be
required to field at least 100 players each day and if
that doesn't happen points will be deducted from their
score on Saturday.

In addition, the MAIN Event will now begin on Friday
and then restart on Saturday. These changes, will make
what was already a very complex one day event into an even
more complex TWO day struggle for the beaches of Normandy.

These are just the most significant developments to
come from the Fall Staff Meeting. Look for more details
about next June's biggest D-Day ever as they become
available.

Sincerely,

WW II Guns

One of the things which makes D-Day so unique
are the number of realistic looking WW II Paint
ball guns you'll see being used there. Here'a a
short tribute clip by one of the guys responsible
for creating many of them.

5th Ranger Bn

5th Battalion Rangers

The three American Ranger units are the units that undergo everything that D-Day has and more. Most
of the players in these units have experienced many D-Days throughout the years and have a wealth
of knowledge that any paintball player can appreciate.

Players in this unit show their dedication by performing in the obstacle course, arriving on the field by
Wednesday morning, training throughout the week, and being in a majority of the mini-games (the 5th
Battalion will have a presence in all of the mini-games). Many units will describe what they do on D-Day,
the Rangers only know that they will be moved into the toughest fighting throughout the games. That's
because Rangers are the allied QRF (Quick Response Force) and are moved into the hot zones that the
Allied forces are having problems securing. We move in, we conquer and we move on.

Rangers do not stay in one zone to watch glory play out. We immediately move out when the area is secure
and let other units clean up and defend an area. This is a fighting unit and the only way to find out our
strategy, past accomplishments, or how to become the most elite players on the fields of OK D-Day is to
become a Ranger.

Rules of Rangers
1. Have a camelback of some kind (this is not negotiable,
if a player does not have one they will not play for the Rangers).

2. Have paintball experience. (This is not a unit for those who've played a few times or have never played at
all. We do have families in this unit, but the members of these families are all hardened players and know what
it takes
to play).

3. MUST be 15 years of age.

4. MUST be on field by Wednesday morning.

5. MUST run through the D-Day obstacle course.

6. MUST participate in all Ranger field training.

7. May not represent Rangers in a negative manner (Players will not slander against any paintball player publicly).
Players are players and we are all in the same family fighting for the same sport.

Please ask questions, please give comments, please
feel free to PM over information that should not be
out on the public forum.

If you register to the 5th Battalion PM me and I will
forward to you access the address to the private site
that the Battalion has.

How about we don't turn this into an Allied recruiting thread. There is already an Allied thread in the other section....especially when the posts are repeated.

We need to keep a thread clean so that players can ask questions without a side bias.

Staticline,

I agree with that this needs to stay clean of side recruitment... German or Allied. We need to keep things as a game recruiting thread. For one of the best games in the WORLD.
