I've had a head start on some of the designs going into a DP platform as a result of those pictures that I subsequently turned into a CAD model, but the bolt is oddly enough the less significant piece of information that I need compared to the dimensions of the inside of the body. I can go backward from those to make a bolt system fit, but short of making a duplicate of the stock bolt there isn't a whole lot that can be made with just the bolt dimensions.

I haven't been a regular in the DP section, but I have been popping in and out for almost exactly 4 years (first post in here was August 10, 2007) discussing various technical aspects of their systems. Definitely not an overnight decision or desire to get something into a DP platform

Is the G3 going to get some LOVE as well? If so contact me as I LOVE my G3.

Also ever consider some Rogue LOVE?

Rouge doesn't have a large enough base, yet?

G4/G3-spec r are taking priority over G3, but it shouldn't be that hard to xport it over.

To further what Deathwish stated - the G4/Spec-R are higher priority due to the current popularity of the two compared to the G3. I have used dimensions that Xluben provided several years ago from an original G3 bolt to do the preliminary layout work for the systems we are considering putting into the platforms.

I will be doing everything I can to make the kits as compatible as possible with the hopes that only a few obvious key components will need to be different between the various versions - this will both reduce our overhead costs on producing the kits for multiple guns and speed up the possibility that a G3 version can follow after the initial run for G4/Spec-R.

Is the threading of the back cap the same across all 3 models in question?

Just an interesting thought: The G4/Spec R markers must be very good for the money.. very few for sale in teh BST.

Edit:

Are there any differences between the bolt engine on the Spec R and G4?
Granted the tech t is interchangeable, I may pick up one of both to double check for minor revisions..

they should be IDENTICAL. The only difference is the milling on the body, the regulator internals, the name and maybe part of the trigger but dont quote me on that.

as far as good for the money. the spec r was worth the $450 brand new IMO but the G4 for $300 is awesome! The g4 looks much nicer in person, online pictures do it no justice.

edit: im going to check the backcap threads for you.. i happen to have g3 and spec r right here

Awesome :p

I just dont want to find out that there is something minutely different in case the other bolt engine is enough to "get by" without making two separate engines.

i have a spec r backcap and a tech T g3 backcap (tooless kind)

the techt engine backcap for the g3 went into the spec r completely. The spec r backcap went into the g3 perfectly.. or it seemed too

i will ask DP about it tomorrow, you could give Tech t a call and ask if they changed the tooless backcap design for the spec r.

also, the g3 takes a smaller allen key (cant remember the size) and the spec r takes a 1/4inch allen key. i would assume the g4 also takes a 1/4inch.

thats the only difference i can think of that would matter. The stem on the spec r might be shorter/ longer if that matters.. but thread wise, i think its the same

Beautiful, thank you. At least one of the variations being considered right now is a likely candidate to work in both systems with very minor changes - possibly as minor as a spacer in a strategic location.

Well just remember the bolt area of the g3 is different from the spec r and g4.

the g3 has orings on the bolt and the spec r has an oringless bolt. im sure your aware of this but i cant see how you could make a bolt work for both markers.

Just because the stock bolt doesn't use an o-ring there doesn't mean one can't be used Depends greatly on fit though for compatibility with both in one bolt, and certainly not a given.

It is difficult to tell from the pics on their site, but it appears that Techt used a traditional sail o-ring on the G4 bolt engine - just immediately behind the bumper instead of bumper>metal>o-ring.
