09 Impulse Upgrades of interest......What do you want?
Hello all, I recently acquired an 09 impulse and got to thinking how many of you would like upgraded bolts, rams, new valves, delrin valve stems. what else do you have in mind?

I know everyone wants new valves, I already have a design in mind. Just waiting on my material to get here to start machining some valves. I will need some test guns, to run the valves to check for reliability etc..

This is great!!!
Thanks for bringing up the idea of upgraded parts for the 09 Impulse!!! This is a great gun out of the box and I agree with MSONIC on the valve stem issue though my gun currently doesn't have this problem. An upgraded bolt would be nice, spring loaded plastic detents instead of rubber detents would be better so we won't have to worry about wear and tear, if you can come up with an upgraded feedneck, that would also be good.

Funny you should bring this up. I just made myself a new flat faced bolt a couple of days ago to stop all the rollback issues my stock bolt was giving me. I would imagine a new bolt would be pretty high up the list of things to upgrade.
Luckily my valve core hasn't given me any problems yet, and I'd love to have spring loaded delrin detents.

So detents seem to be somewhat of a concern as well, gun comes in tomorrow and I'll take a look at them.

I think the imp shoots pretty smooth out of the box. So I wouldn't suggest many "upgrades" except for making a new valve that performs very similar to the stock valve, only doesn't leak. I wouldn't try to make it like a serious performance upgrade type deal- but one that people with problems can purchase to fix the issue.
Maybe figure out a way to create a new feedneck. One that's more secure/doesn't break as easily.
I haven't had many issues with rollback on the stock bolt like others have. The bolt that came in the gun is different then the one I got from GoG after my feedneck wobble torched the bolt however. Never had a chop on the gun either.
Detents would be a nice thing to be able to get. While I think the rubber ones work- I imagine that soon I'll end up mowing them much like the ego detents, and will be SoL when it comes to replacements.
Don't bother with the ram IMO. Like a couple of us have said, the gun shoots super smooth out of the box. You could try experimenting with a "zick 2" style ram if you want, but I think the difference in kick would be marginal.

Any word on this? If you can get a new valve core made I'm gonna start swooping up "broken" 09's.
