I dont own an Apex and dont really know how they work but if you can change its operation in any way on the feild without tools then it would be deemed illigal IMO

That's the thing, they aren't changing the mode of operation. To sum up, basically the rules say you cannot change the mode the gun shoots in (semi, ramp, auto, etc.), and you cannot change air pressure settings (increase/decrease velocity). I have not come across anything that says you cannot change the flight pattern of a paintball.

And here is something to consider: Tippmann flatlines would be completely legal. There is no rule that I know of that excludes the flatline. As for the apex, the thing that would make it illegal (if it is) is the adjustability of it. Adjusting it will not change the mode of operation (i.e., semi to ramp) and it will not change the velocity, so it cannot be excluded on those rules.

Now it IS legal to adjust eyes (on/off) and loader (speed setting, on/off, etc.) So be adjustable alone does not make it illegal.

I'm pretty sure adjusting an APEX will affect your velocity. The greater spin you put on the ball mean a greater resistance in front of the ball, meaning turning the spin up may lower the marker's velocity.

Based upon my interpretation of the rules, I would say illegal.

If you could use them, and they did make any sort of difference or give you an edge on the competition, every team would already be using them.

I think this hits it on the head. If you chrono'd with the apex turned up all the way, you would be able to turn the apex off and be shooting hot.

I would assume you could just make the apex nonadjustable and it might be legal.

I remember back in the day seeing some back players use the flatline barrel auto cockers in nppl. That was a lonnng time ago, so rules might have changed =)
