Pain is only helpful when you're experienced enough to handle it.
You also mentioned how he may be younger, and may have a small face, if he has a small face he should get the i4's because they're incredibly breathable and fit around your face like a mold. Honestly there is no "proper" recomendation on masks because some people prefer different things. Such as me, I have a HUGE face, and I use the i4's all day. What he needs to do is go to his local shop and try the masks on.

I couldn't wear anything but the i4's honestly. They have such a small profile, and seem to fit just right. Everything else feels too bulky. That is just IMO.

Pod packs don't have crazy differences, but I use the proto 3+5. I LOVE it. Don't get any pod packs that don't have velcro along the whole strip(like Valken packs for example). The velcro rips off too easily, and they are a lot harder to tighten.

As for hoppers, yes it depends on your price range, but it also depends on what position(s) plan on playing. (That is if you are even playing on a tourny-ball, aka speedball field.) From what I have seen and experienced, Rotors are durable when it comes to the outer shell. They can take hard hits on the ground, but I see them jam up CONSTANTLY. I use the Empire Prophecy V2, and I've never had it jam on me...but at the same time I saw one get massacred from a bad dive into snake. So, it's all personal preference and gameplay. Both are extremely durable compared to the Halo and other cheap-o hoppers I've seen. Halos crack right at the neck, its inevitable.

5 reasons to go out with a paintballer:
5. We are good at moving our fingers extremely fast in small places
4. We like to slide into our positions
3. We always wear protection
2. We dont mind getting a little dirty
1. All of us have at least a 12" barrel.

i love how the halo types are listed as ok. I would choose a reloader b over any other hopper any day. I have shot just about all of them listed in that list and have never found one I fealt out performed the reloader. while it may not be as fast as others I find it to be reliable and if your accurate you dont need to shoot 40bps.
Playing nice only works in grade school and even then not that well.

If you go with anything on that list you will be happy. I would just look around for the best used prices and go from there.
