So I've been getting slammed with PMs about the picture of my TPX in the TPX Picture Thread about how I went about making extended mags. Decided I could show you guys the basics of what I did.

This is in no way a how-to thread.



First off, I originally found a how-to at x7og. I just tried my best to make it somewhat cleaner.


Upper portion


Lower portion


Internals. Magazine release works correctly as does the carrier release.


Extended release armature.


Two 7-round mag springs AND followers.


Top spring over bottom follower.


In my TPX.




The only problem I am having is keeping the front of the magazine together. I have epoxied this many times with the same result of it popping apart after about three uses.


I have also been thinking about taking a 7-round mag and running a tube of sorts with a flared end at the top and a cap at the bottom which would have a similar look to the extended Tiberius mags.

Came up with a simple fix for the front of the magazine. Dremeled two 'channels' on each side and epoxied paperclip bits into the plastic.

Got a hold of paint to see how much it holds.


Can hold 12 +1 in the chamber.

Clever thinking on using the follower and spring from both mags to make a "super-spring". That should allow full travel without increasing the spring force enough to be rough on paint. How much have you used the mag so far? No feed issues?

Before fixing the front of the mag, I was able to use it for three games with a pump team. Held up fine. No feed issues. The only thing is, it needs to be the first magazine used as the 'top' follower does not get secured to the bottom of the mag and will always have pressure on the ball stack. I had one or two fall out running around with it in my pocket.

I'll be playing today to see if I can make it last the entire day without falling apart.

I've got to do a bit of sanding to the joint of the two mags and maybe stretch the springs a bit. I had a problem with the followers getting hung up. Although, one quick tap to the grip set them loose.

Scratch that. I'm going to trim a spring. Took a 7 rounder apart to compare how much spring hangs out. The extended wins by about two inches. Probably too much pressure causing the followers to tilt enough to 'jam'.

Bringing an almost dead topic back.

Found the bottom spring was getting hung up on the carrier release at the bottom of the mag. Pulled the release out and plan on doing some play testing at CPX this weekend.

Sexiness. Have you tried wit 8 round mags? I might try with some just because they can usually be found cheaper than Tru-Feed mags.

I don't have any eight rounders to pull apart. Depends on what the internals look like.

I used a 15 minute set epoxy.

How about adding an extra mag to the bottom of all that? It woulld then be like a 17 or 18 round mag

For the life of me I cannot understand you guys that want mags that long. What are you going to do, attach a sail to it and use it to move around the field via wind power? 10-12 rounds is a great capacity without adding ridiculous bulk.

I'm interested in this build. I think making a master and then making single-piece casts would make the entire thing stronger. I've got a friend who can help with the molding. I'll let you know how it goes.
