I said it was pointless to cut the EPA, which the monthly budget for August is something less than $1 billion, when there will be a daily shortfall of $20 billion on August 3rd. Loosening regulations isn't going to magically fix the budget issue.

I can see the issue with businesses needing to cope with the tight regulations that the EPA enforces but those implications are an entirely separate discussion.

businesses aren't hoarding cash because of the EPA, thats just absurd. if that were the case then we would have seen this before the crisis too.

ITT: The liberals declare that if you aren't spending 100+% of your income, you're "hoarding".

Pretty much explaining the root problem with this country.

I had to raise my own personal debt ceiling once. Then I paid it all off in 6 months. By some twist of fate, the big spender moved on somewhere else. The credit card companies rewarded me with an even bigger debt ceiling and a good credit score. Everything that was spent on those credit cards, I don't have. The big spender ran off with all of it. There is nothing to show for the debt I paid off. I don't intend to go into debt again. I guess I am hoarding now?

I might need to buy a van...down by the river[how about by the beach?] the way things are going with this debt ceiling. The hardcore stuff that I did for this country is not going to matter[never expected it to matter]. The education benefits could very well be eliminated so the government can pay off it's debts. I could of been paid unemployment benefits, but instead I chose to spend all the money I saved up [the plan was to buy a house without going into debt] to look for a job. I found a dinky job just to stop losing money. I still haven't recovered back to where I was. I am sure the money I've saved up someone could get in one paycheck.

Despite what antigovernment conservatives say, non-
defense discretionary spending on areas like foreign aid, education and food safety was not a driving factor in creating the deficits. In fact, such spending, accounting for only 15 percent of the budget, has been basically flat as a share of the economy for decades. Cutting it simply will not fill the deficit hole. Read it hear. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/24/op...4.html?_r=1&bl
