GoG Enemy vs a Custom 98 - for 9 year old

I am getting back into sport and I am looking to bring my 9 year old with me. He says he wants to play, but I think his first hit will be the determining factor. Anyway, I was originally looking at picking up a Tippman 98 Custom for his first marker but now after looking around I see the the GoG Enemy may be a good option as well.

I was just looking on some thoughts between the 2 markers. Is the GoG a solid platform like the Custom 98? I am only looking for a marker in the $130 range for my son at this time.

From the removable bolt and smoothness of shot and reliability a new GOG would be your best bet.

GOG. Smoother shooting, a little lighter, and not as long.

Gog doesn't even come close to matching the 98's durability. I'd go with a 98 all day long. Although it might be a little heavier. The 98 is the tank of all guns. You can throw it down stomp on it, shove it in the mud and it will still shoot no problem, course you will have to clean out the barrel. lol

Thanks for the input. I know my son likes the GoG more than the custom 98. Also he is probably on the smaller side of the age group so gun weight will be a factor. I dont mind doing maintenance at all so that is not a concern.

I would hope his son respects his marker and doesn't "You can throw it down stomp on it, shove it in the mud and it will still shoot no problem, course you will have to clean out the barrel"

98 makes for a great rental for those reasons but doesn't for a personal gun. GoG is head and shoulders better marker.

Thanks for the input everyone. The GoG is probably the route I will take from the feed back I am getting. Again this all depends on how well my son takes to the sport after his first game. Me on the other hand, I am back in and will stay in whether my son takes to it or not .

I grew up with a Tippmann 98. Its always been a fan favorite and the options available to customize it are endless.

GoG Emney, played with both guns and the Gog is much better. smoother, quieter in my opinion, lighter. i would highly recommend getting a longer barrel for it, though because the 8" barrel it comes with isn't the greatest.

As much as I love Tippmann and the 98, their entry level markers are behind the time these days. There is a lot more value in Enmy. To start it has a regulator which will provide more consistent shots (also invest in a compressed air tank). It also as a very low force bolt, is a spool valve design (quieter and less kick) and is electronic upgradeable.

Gog enmey hands down. People call tippman tanks and sure they are. but shot quality, weight, trigger pull, ease of maintence.

enmey is the best gun in its price point no matter what.

Go with the GOG for sure. It will be more comfortable for a smaller person with its smaller size, lower weight, and it has colors.

Gog I would say. If you are going to get your own gun, you want to feel like you are different from the crowd when you go to play. If you go with the Tippmann, while it is reliable, you might as well just rent whenever you go out to play.
