OT: Tragedy in Aurora last night.....
After the tragedy that happened in Aurora last night, I just wanted to make sure all my Paintball people from down there are safe and doing ok.
For those with their head in the sand or just haven't got the news. There was a shooting in Aurora last night at a movie theater showing a midnight premier of the the new Batman movie. 50 people were shot and the death count is up to 12 or 14 at the moment.
I know our paintball community is not a huge amount of people but still it's nice to know everyone is safe. I would encourage everyone in the denver and especially the Aurora area to post something up on facebook or somewhere to let people know that you are ok. I'm currently waiting to here back from people I know in the area and I know it would make it a lot easier if they just posted up a quick message that said, "I'm fine."
My prayers are with everyone effected by this.

I never thought I would get use to mass murders. But when I heard about Aurora I got out of bed and txt my family that I was fine. Then I went and ate some cereal like I do every morning. And now I'm online, eating cereal like any other morning. Kinda disturbing to me how little my norm has deviated.
Maybe because I grew up with all the school shootings happening? I don't know. I remember when the shooting over in Pearl River school happened. Was kinda freaked since I vaguely knew the guy who started shooting.

That's the theater that CJ and I normally go to when there is a midnight release and needless to say, we are very lucky that it was sold out. Let's just hope no one else passes away and that the shooter gets to sit and rot in a federal prison for the rest of his life

So sad My heart goes out to all of those effected. Maybe we could all band together as a community (paintball that is) and help? Any ideas?

Agreed^
Maybe fields in CO could help with another fund raiser @ Dynamic since that is the local field in the Aurora area.

I donated blood today. And no he wasn't dressed up like the joker. He was in swat gear, gas mask, helmet, and body armor.

I went to a midnight release but thankfully not that theater. I had 3 friends in Theater 9 and I'm glad they weren't hurt. Such a horrible act.

I really, REALLY hope the news media doesn't identify that (paintball) as a possible cause/stimuli/"training" etc etc...

Well, now is a good time for the entire paintball community to show that we are upstanding individuals. Luso, I hope you guys point CBS towards the Autism Benefit coming up... though they will likely find some way to spin that...

Some of you may remember the charity event that the PARC held for a woman who got shot with a paintball gun back in like '06. CBS came out to that so I don't think it would be too hard to get them to come out to the Autism event

Wow... I was really hoping that the media was going to miss that one. This cast such a negative light on paintball and is so not what it is about.
I love the sport because it brings all sorts of people from all walks of life together. But what sucks most is that the media isn't going to see what we see, they are just going to look for a scape goat.
We definitely have to do our best now to represent and also support our community and beloved sport. Keep up the good work guys.
