So what made this Pro finals so exciting?

Anyone who watched Dynasty and Russian Legion square off has to think this was one of the most exciting final games ever.

What made it different?

Are the players just getting that much better?

Did the players just leave it all on the field since it was going to be webcast?

Did RL just have to truly excel to break Dynasty's streak?

Was it something as simple as the changes the PSP made like the longer field and no D-side coaching that allowed some of the incredible moves?

It could be the immense drive in both teams.
I'm sure no coaching had a bit to do with the big moves.
Whatever caused it, it was certainly fun to watch; even from home

Or it could be the fact that RL has always pwned everyone?

No D side coaching, for sure. The crowd was probably drowning out much of the snake side coaching (only reason I can think why Ollie would try and run the snake long after Justin left it)

Consistently teams are running out of paint, game after game, and I haven't seen this get remedied for whatever reason. It does, however, make for some interesting gameplay.

The sheer talent from both teams meeting up in a battle on the field made for exciting times. No one wants to get shot out, no one wants to give an inch. The smartest players in the sport going head to head, it should always be exciting.

The complete lack of effectiveness of the coaching in the last 2 points made it exciting, from JRabs move to the 1v1. Neither of those moves would have been possible if coahes could have been heard. (That being said, can we just do away with coaching entirely?)

100% AGREED!!!! Why no big moves like this in pro paintball any more? Its very difficult to make a killer move these days when you have coaches yelling (until this year dorito and snake side) what the move is. The player can be 100% CLUELESS and yet be rescued by a coach watching. I think it goes to show even at the pro ranks how used to coaching players have become...its gone from the D side and you can see that it is having an effect...J Rab left the snake side and moved to Dorito side and made his move. Maybe next year we can have no coaching and see some real killer moves again.

well because i dont think 2 power house teams like this haven't competed against each other since XSV and Dynasty a few years ago.

i like coaching, id hate to see PSP lose coaching all together. Crowd interaction is a reason why i love watching games. it really lets you enjoy the game and get into it.

No D-Side coaching is it. The points are long and paint usage is up because of the field size and layout changes, so that didn't help. I think keeping some coaching is good, but if anything it should be only ONE coach on D-side only so that the crowd and cameras get to see more big moves on the snakeside.

Russian Legions drive to win the match made it exciting for me. They were not looking good earlier in the match and it looked like Dynasty would just run away with it. The apparent desire to swat Dynasty from getting yet another win must have been the all the motivation Legion needed. The last two points were spectacular. Running in the flag with two seconds left and players alive is unheard of. Bunkering someone in a one-on-one with paint picked up off the ground to win the finals is legendary.

The match's closeness, couple with the way the last two points played out, made it exciting to watch. I think that something people may forget, though, is almost every tournament has moments like the one where JRab ran the flag in with :02 left on the clock. Those moments all seem crazy and epic, but something crazy almost ALWAYS happens. This is why I'm happy that the web cast was running, so you can catch those things.

thats exactly what happened, the croud and no dorito coaching and some mental breakdowns on the field for dynasty. and yes they did run out of paint game after game, it makes me wonder why dont they carry more or just be a little more conservative with it

At least in the Pro Division. If you have that kind of talent and skill, you shouldn't be leaning on the crutch of a coach to play a game at that level. IMO coaching should be allowed at the D3/4 level where players are still developing their feel and confidence in the game.

The history before the game(RL being defending champs for 2 years and dynasty winning every tournament this year) really played into it. The game being so close was also very big. JRab's move(obviously) to send it to over time. And the no coaching on Dside leading to Berdnikov's bunker in the 1v1.

I was there...Boston's snake side coaching wasn't "superior" lol. Only reason it was so good is because the guy was talking to them in Russian. That language barrier makes things harder on the other team.

The thing that made this so good was that it was tit for tat. First Legion came out wrecking up 2-0. Then Dynasty came back and looked like they were gonna win it. RL knew what they had to do being down 2 points with around 3 minutes on the clock. One RL player (I forget his name) ran down at least 3 Dynasty player in a matter of seconds. After that, J-Rab with his clutch moves to sneak the flag to the dead box.

The end to all, it came down to a One on One in Overtime! ...It doesn't get any better than that. And well....You know the rest.
