Yeah I did
And you probably did, we won that rookie series at hot shots and than within a couple years me and my brother just kinda quit playing, owning a field that doesn't make money can't stay alive

I thought you username looked familiar.
Out of curiosity, what braid is good for shark fishing from the beach? I have been using 60lb mono, and I honestly hate how much it stretches when you get it out a good distance, almost to a point that its hard to feel anything take off with the bait.

i use 150lb braid with 100 mono, swivel, 10 feet of 500lb mono, and then 6 feet of 1000+ lb wire.
but for spinners or blacktips, i have landed plenty on just 150lb braid and then 200lb wire leader (8 feet or so). also landed a couple on my 4/0 with 40lb mono and 150 wire leader.

Sweet man, I'll have to hit those places up on Google. Any recommendations on rod/reel setups for those areas? I've got pretty much everything but can only bring so much. Keep in mind, we will be there mid August, so it will probably change a bit before we get down there.

I have two poles(kinda want to get a third maybe like a 6/0 and get a Penn "Mariner" rod). A penn 4/0 on a senator rod i put live bait or cut bait on for sharks, then i have a little $20 spinning rod from walmart that i dont really care about lol. and on that i will put anything from cut squid to sabiki rigs, to other various jigs on. Works well for pin fish/lady fish/ whiting for bait. If you get a little 4/0 or something atleast 50lb test on it with a fairly decent sized wire leader. I have 5 feet of 200some pound wire leader. Still i will have something hit it every know and then and it will snap my line. But its basically what ever you want to do i would definitely consider getting some of that bullbusters mono and a fairly decent sized and lb leader.
The nice thing about sharky's is that you dont need a license to fish there, they have a commercial license for the whole pier. just keep in mind though that the pier is over 50 ft in the air. I would seriously consider going to the boca grande pier depending on where near Sarasota your going. Its about 12 miles from my house which is kinda near Venice/Englewood. I would also consider going to the boca grande beach, my grandpa's friend nailed a couple barracuda's, tarpon, snook, and a few black tips from that a week or so. From what everyone has said August is probably going to be a sick fishing month.
edit: is this a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/Penn-9-0-Senator...em3368c1 fa6f

Cool, right now I have a few just el-cheapo surf rods that I have no idea where they came from. Then I've got a pretty nice 7ft. Penn Slammer spinnig rod/reel that I think would make a good pier rod.
Then I also have a Penn 525 that I whore around on a couple of different rods for casting smaller stuff off the beach.
I've only been on a pier one time, and I was about 10, so I don't really remember much about it. Other than that, all my saltwater fishing has either been on a boat or from the sand.
We will be staying in Siesta Key at the Tropical Beach Resorts place (if you know where that is).

Yeah, usually we are in Panama City and any beach fishing is well after dark, just for that reason. I may hit you up when we get down there and check out a pier.
