We will be introducing the 5-man Race to 2 formats for D4 and 3-man Race to 2 for D5. Sunday will be Race to 4 with both D3 & D4 limited to 8 teams each division for the 2011 Championship. We feel this move is long over due. The new formats are more in line with the PSP and the direction our sport is headed.
The new formats will also allow new players and teams to experience the MSXL and help keep a constant flow of upcoming new talent.
Prize packages and more details to follow.
Race to 2 event prizes:
D3 & D4
1st Place World Cup Entry + MSXL Swag
2nd Place $250 + MSXL Swag
3rd Place $100
D5 3-man
1st Place $200 + MSXL Swag
2nd Place $100

All XBall or Race to 4 will be on Sunday.
All Race to 2 will be on Saturday.

Really? RaceTo4 all on Sunday? Has there ever been a day during the past 3 years of the league when we've efficiently pulled off one division in a day, let alone both?
EDIT: Not that I dislike the idea. I just wonder how it'll be effectively pulled off.

Yes we have run 15 and 16 teams in 1 day. Cap is 16. No it won't be easy and will have to start 8am sharp. |

just Wondering why cant Yall keep the same D4 Sat/D3 Sun and have both formats play in the same day.
There are a lot of guys who play both divisions Xball, now they cant do that.
I dont know about a lot of other D4 players or any of the D3 guys but it work out really great just having to play all games on sat and that was one of the main reasons MSXL works out for my guys.
it was Leaving Sundays for us to relax for the Long drive home. I know its more hard for a lot of my guys to get a Monday off then it is a Friday.

For the Gameheads the new format works out great....we have a lot of new players who want to play but arent quite ready to jump into Xball....we will field at least one Race to 2 team from here on out... |

Good point, the flip side to that is that we are in hopes of maybe a couple of the 5-man squads ban together and form XBall teams.

You're hoping that teams will come together to play this VS teams that were for sure in it considering not playing it now(IE changing it for the guys that WERE committed) if that makes sense |

If we lose 2-3 XBall teams and gain 20+ Race to 2 we get to have a MSXL for 2012. Do nothing and we cease to exist.
After lengthy discussions with people in the industry who have direct knowledge of these matters we feel this is the correct direction to take. It is working for WCPPL, CFOA, CFPS...

Last year the championship was limited to 8 teams and only had one field going and the event was run very well. Just run two fields and it should be fine.

I have two thoughts.......the D4 Race to 4 has had the best turnout, considerably more then 8....AND some guys play both D4 and D3.......y not run D4 race to 4 on saturday along with D5 3man race to 2......Sunday run D3 race 2 4 AND D4 race to 2??????
only issue is there may be a concern that to many D4 race to 2 teams show up.....an easy fix is limit the number of Race to 2 teams on sunday to how ever many u can handle, in the future if D4 Race to 2 gets huge and u have to change it so be it, but for now i would think u could keep the same schedule as usual and Add Both D5 3man and D4 Race to 2 and keep ALL Happy!

Just have the 5-man teams play in between the Xball points. They've got 2 min to win and get off the field. Then we could get it all done real quick.

That's brilliant!!! I love it. Sounds crazy but they do a rotation of teams in Vicious series and Millennium with 30 seconds between points. All from the same Division though.
We are gonna run the Championship as by PSP match play guidelines but I like it.
