When I played the NPPL scene from '95 til 2001 ,the events were a blast. An older crowd where you would hear who got arrested the night before, the drinking , strip bars, the fights, and the teams who would beat the **** out of you in the parking lot. The playing was only half of the fun on those trips. I don't think these teams of kids today would have survived back then.
Ohhh the good ol days... Anyone remember Sundays at Crossfire in Manteca? It was where the Manteca Waterslides used to be, there was a paintball park there from 03 to 05... Every sunday Bob long would come out with the Oakland Assassins to practice X-ball, Momma's boys were on of the regs... God i missed Ref'in/playing there
I'm not even gonna play the video. Seen 300FPS so many times I can't sing the songs without putting the sounds of the guns and shouts of the players in with it.
I got intoi the sport just as it was getting big (mid-late 2003) and truley miss those days.
03-05 was definitely huge here in norcal, local tournies every where, couple places had tournies at the end of every month, just for siths n giggles...
By far my favorite... I present to you... Sundays at Crossfire Paintball in Manteca, CA... Now closed
This was a practice Bob Long held one weekend for Oakland Assassins and he invited Shockteck UK, which is the guy at the beginning in the "Ski Goggles", Infamous, Twisted Revolution, some Avalanche, some Dynasty, and some Momma's Boys were there. This was back in... January/Feb/March of 04. I was one of the Refs that worked there, it was an awesome weekend
I'd say 2002 - 2006 were the best times for great paintball. So many events, so many regular players, and just an overall steady growth in popularity. I remember registering for events extra early because team sheets filled up so fast.
2007 was the big crash, at least in Texas it was.

i agree, i quit in 06, but just came back last week. different crowd, different game now.
99 ~ 2002 - great years....so as I remember it the setup was:
Shocker 4x4 w/ power feed and "air assist"
18v Revvy
Vertical Max Flo
114/4500 (cuz you needed that much...lol)
Some freakin' awesome JT pants that zipped off at the knee to turn into shorts
the all but necessary JT Sock Hat....who could play w/o a sock hat?
and last but not least how could you not own your own copy of PUSH?
Just picked it back up again 3 months ago and i found out that I have muscles in places that I didn't know about...but all is good. Now I can legally shoot my 10 year old and he can shoot me back. Now its just kinda freaky going out to a field and being someones dad...."look he brought his DAD with him" Wow!
DUDE! I owned those JT pants. I miss those things. They were the ****. Squeegee pocket on the left and right legs... My friend has those pants now because they no longer fit me... But the bottoms are missing
I also remember watching the PUSH video like every week. It was so clutch.
I miss the hay day of '01-'02.. Though I stopped playing in late 02ish because sportsmanship was so terrible. I couldn't stand the fact that I'd get so angry when playing. But then again I was a kid so..
I blame the timmy for changing the game so drastically. Because it was the first electro gun that you could tune to the point that it would full-auto if someone on the other side of the field farted.
If paintball still had the numbers it did years and years ago... Imagine the possibilities.. It'd actually be feasible to start an old school league.. like with cockers and angels and stuff again.

I remember that, good times out there. I was a nobody then and I'm a nobody now! Lol. The good old days, where you had to buy a dvd/vhs to see paintball vids.
