These threads always make me lol.
But I would say something like..
1. Tupac/B.I.G.
2. B.I.G./Tupac
3. Eminem
4. Jay-Z/Nas
5. Nas/Jay-Z
As far as new rappers I'd say Lupe and J. Cole are on top.

Personal preference, currently putting out music:
1. Kanye West
2. Lupe
3. Tyler
4. J. Cole
5.Big Sean
I tried to avoid Em and Jay as those two are cliche at this point as great as they both can be.

Umm, because the only two songs radio stations played from Recovery were "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way you Lie" making every other song on that Album less mainstream than those two.

That's because both of those songs are released as singles from the album. So, all of the other songs on the album get less mainstream exposure than those two singles do, but they aren't any more "underground" than those singles.

Also, for what it's worth, consider this: to dudes who are listing really, really recent artists (Wayne, Wiz, Mac Miller, Lupe, even Kanye and the like), hip hop does have a long and rich history.
I'm not gonna hate, because you like what you like and **** what anyone else thinks. But just consider that if your list consists of mostly guys that have Top 40 hits from 2005 and on that you're alienating 98% of all other rap and hip hop out there.
If I can offer some advice for people who really like rap music and not just popular music, do a little digging. Listen to some free downloadables, some more obscure ****, some older ****, and find some unreleased **** from people you really like currently. I know Mac Miller has a huge catalog of songs but a lot of people started listening at "La La La"/K.I.D.S. so they forget he's got a quality back catalog. YouTube is an excellent resource- you can find pretty much anything.
Remember, listen to what you enjoy but don't be afraid to explore. I really enjoy conscious hip hop and elaborate wordplay, but I also bang Smoke DZA in my car on a regular basis. People who only claim to listen to the underground intellectuals with ****ty flow and bad beats are lying, and furthermore, no one is special because they like a particular group.
Also, pray to Black Thought daily.
