Still risky especially down 3-2.. As said before the ball was on his left foot meaning Howard had to go through gio before getting contact with the ball. Would've been a foul. I still blame the US defense. We had 7 guys in the box including Howard. Gio had the ball for a good 5-6 seconds with te real pressure being from Howard.

I understand what you're saying about having balls, but as Ajdx said sliding through a technical player such as gio is very dangerous. Even if Howard got the ball I'm sure Gio or any other forward would've gone down and put the ref in a difficult position of PK or not

I watched the replay numerous times and tbh the defense/mid should be ashamed. At the time Gio took the ball we had 7 guys in the box while Mexico only had 3. Many of our players were standing and ballwatching. Although Howard looked rather amateur, he did a good job containing Gio in hopes of our defense helping out

At least on this we can agree 100%. This is a problem I have had with the way the US plays defense. No one seems to want to take responsibility for much other than the patch of grass on which he is standing. For crying out loud, mark someone. Get into their shirt. Giving them space, even in the box, for them to start running at you with the ball at their feet is not a winning recipe for defense. Unless you are completely sure about your offside trap, watching a player run past you is inexcusable for a defender (see Bornstein) in most circumstances. The US defenders were not as mentally into the game as Mexico's front runners were, and Mexico's players are good enough to exploit that.

Notice how the attack was on the US left? Yeah lets just go ahead and acknowledge that Bornstein screwed the pooch on that one too.

It is seriously amazing how one player can be so ****ty that he ruins it for the entire team. Even more amazing that Bradley didn't notice that the left back and left center back combo was getting exploited so easily and make the switch to see if Lichaj could solidify things a bit.

I will give the Mexican team credit for seeing this and exploiting it multiple times. If you have a play that works consistently, why run anything else until the other team stops what is working for you?

Like 10 seconds before the goal Chicharito was being doubled in the corner and from the looks of it, it was our defender who poorly misplayed the ball to the Mexican player on top of the 18.. Our left side sucked

Exactly. I mean hell their first goal alone should have been warning enough to switch Bornstein and Lichaj.

Who knows. He's been lost in his head for awhile I think.

Also waiting every day to hear that Bradley is out and some foreign manager that knows soccer is in.

Personally I think that would be a perfect move for Jozy. Love the Dutch league. It's big-time but it's not so big-time you can't play if you're not a polished product.

I wonder what the buy-out is on Bradley's contract.

Lol this is charlie - I despise bigsoccer so much. It's hilarious now, I'm jaded towards it. Imagine my perceived arrogance/douchebaggery times 9000. Then imagine me being a moderator, but being illogical/crazy. Good times.
