If you aren't an engineer all your computer needs to do is run office and honestly office works better with pc so I would just stick with that. I have the xps 13 inch from 2009 and it still works. Granted I did get that extended warranty which helped when I spilled an entire solo cup of something on my computer when I blacked out. The hard drive also broke about 2 years in which was also replaced for free. I don't think my friends have had any trouble with their xps' ordered at the same time.

Take it for what it is and move on. More girls want a boyfriend than girls that don't, so you'll find one.

I mean is it wrong of me to have no interest in being just her "friend"? Does that make me a dick?

Nope. I'm sure you have enough friends as it is. No problem.

I looked at the specs. For the price, given the fact the xbox comes with it, the Dell is actually a really good deal. Otherwise I agree, it is overpriced.

xbox is what, 200 new? used maybe 70?
i'm shocked that people actually think that promotion is a good deal.
edit*- or that dell could ever make a worthwhile computer.

Don't even try and pretend like the older Dells weren't good computers.
Oh, and the xbox that comes with it is 300 new. That makes the laptop 800. Overpriced still, but then again, so is everything in the industry. At 800 it's a decent buy that would last a while. I paid 850 for my laptop 4 years ago. Overpriced? Sure. But it's still kicking *** and I expect another year or so out of it. Probably more.

why would you say that about yourself?
and why would you assume that we have lots of friends?
edit: I paid $280 for my laptop, brand new (compaq). It's great. Just as good as pretty much everything else on the market. Computer companies are rich only because the average consumer doesn't know **** about technology.

So I took this girl out on a date before I left to Utah for 12 weeks. I had known her for a few months prior, volunteered with her and just talked to her while volunteering. Never asked her out for that time being. Then, by a weird/random chain of events, it lead to me asking her out.
We had a great date, I took her out for appetizers at Applebee's, and we had good conversation for two hours. We started to open up at a few points, but mostly talking about school, friends, past relationships briefly, and some fun personal topics. She offered to come help me pack, but something happened with her roommate to where she didn't end up coming over.
I suggest we stay in contact every now and then while I'm away, she replies with:
Her:Every now and then? How about regularly. hahaha
Me: Upping the ante huh? Do you have a webcam by chance?
Her:Yes I do!
Me: lol cool.
It's been nearly a week since then. Shooting her a txt with something along the lines of:
Hey how ya been? What are you up to tonight? Want to skype later?
Any input? I feel as though I have it covered but still looking for input either way.

I beg to differ. While, in many cases, you are correct it is not always that way. Nvidia, Razer, Logitech, Acer etc etc are rich because they sale good products. In the industry, the things that are worth the value won't be that way for long. They will be old an history in a few months. In order to get what is considered decent in computer world you have to pay for it; to stay ahead of the curve. Three years ago my dad and I built a gaming rig for about 2.5 grand. Even now the video card in it is as fast as the average gaming card. It is still on par with the curve. So, if you go top of the line, you're looking at 2-5 years of being in good shape. That being said, if you go cheap and build a rig for less than 1 grand it will be outdated very quickly.

Enjoy. Both macs we've had in my family lasted 6 months, if that.

Seems she is interested. Of course, being gone for 12 weeks will be interesting I'm sure. You have one of two roads as I see it:
1. Keep in somewhat contact during the trip
2. Come back, after disappearing from her, and see if she still wants to do ****

Yeah it will be interesting for sure. I'm going to have so much free time it's going to drive me crazy. I can tell I'm going to be lonely at times for sure so maybe she will help with that.
The other girl intern I flew down is neither a looker nor intelligent, as mean as that is. I have to literally take care of the girl.

I had a big long post explaining why this was dumb but it didnt post because the internet here ****ing blows...
Long story short this is a stupid gimmick and not a deal. You can get an ASUS laptop for $800 thats much much much better than any $800 dell you are gonna get.

Maytherman... you are doing alright champ keep playing it easy.
If conversations via skype with the chick seem to lull or slow down give her extra time between your next contact to buil d up somethings for both of you to talk about blame the asbence on being busy. Otherwise a skype session once a week or so aint too bad

This used to be the case years ago as in 2-5 years ago. Now a days most $1000 rigs will last for quite some time with minimal upgrades if any.
