Most Important: Be respectful!
Polite communication is important. Our goal is to show legislators why requiring paintball guns to be brightly colored will not improve public safety, is unnecessary, and will hurt California residents and tax revenues.

If you do not live in California:
Think of anyone you know who lives in California, and encourage them to contact their legislators using the steps below. Make sure you understand the basics of the law so you can answer any questions they have. The basics are covered in this thread:
If you live in California:
1) Find your Assemblymember
2) Call them
3) Fax them
4) Call the Committee on Public Safety Assembly Members
5) Fax them
Read on for the details on how to do these 5 steps.
Contact your legislators, especially your Assemblymember. To find your Assemblymember, enter your address here:
You'll see something that looks like this:
Your Assembly District number is in the red circle. If you are in Assembly District 13, 14, 19, 36, 45, 47, or 60, it's especially important that you act, because your Assemblymember is one of the only 7 Assemblymembers on the Committee on Public Safety that will be voting on this bill next.
Once you know your Assemblymember, call their Capitol Office number, circled in pink on the example. A staff person will answer the phone. You want to tell them your name, that you live in their district, and that you are opposed to Senate Bill 798 unless it keeps the exception for paintball markers.
Second, you should fax or mail the Assemblymember. There is already a form letter available here: Paintball Player Form Letter
Fill in the blanks and print it. Then sign the letter and fax it in:
: Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, Chair - Fax: (916) 319-2113
: Assemblymember Nancy Skinner - Fax: (916) 319-2114
: Assembly Member Jerry Hill - Fax: (916) 319-2119
: Assemblymember Steve Knight, Vice-Chair - Fax: (916) 319-2136
: Assemblymember Gil Cedillo - Fax: (916) 319-2145
: Assemblymember Holly Mitchell - Fax: (916) 319-2147
: Assemblymember Curt Hagman - Fax: 916-319-2160
If you own or operate a paintball business, there is a different letter available for you here: Paintball Business Form Letter
If you can't fax, you can email, but faxing is better. Do NOT send your letter as an attachment!
You must cut and paste the letter into the body of the email.
