Most Important: Be respectful!

Polite communication is important. Our goal is to show legislators why requiring paintball guns to be brightly colored will not improve public safety, is unnecessary, and will hurt California residents and tax revenues.

Everyone:

Join this Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/SavePaintbal...fornia?sk=info

If you do not live in California:

Think of anyone you know who lives in California, and encourage them to contact their legislators using the steps below. Make sure you understand the basics of the law so you can answer any questions they have. The basics are covered in this thread:

http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3620936

If you live in California:

1) Find your Assemblymember
2) Call them
3) Fax them
4) Call the Committee on Public Safety Assembly Members
5) Fax them

Read on for the details on how to do these 5 steps.

Contact your legislators, especially your Assemblymember. To find your Assemblymember, enter your address here:

http://192.234.213.69/amapsearch/framepage.asp

You'll see something that looks like this:

Your Assembly District number is in the red circle. If you are in Assembly District 13, 14, 19, 36, 45, 47, or 60, it's especially important that you act, because your Assemblymember is one of the only 7 Assemblymembers on the Committee on Public Safety that will be voting on this bill next.

Once you know your Assemblymember, call their Capitol Office number, circled in pink on the example. A staff person will answer the phone. You want to tell them your name, that you live in their district, and that you are opposed to Senate Bill 798 unless it keeps the exception for paintball markers.

Second, you should fax or mail the Assemblymember. There is already a form letter available here: Paintball Player Form Letter

Fill in the blanks and print it. Then sign the letter and fax it in:

District 13: Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, Chair - Fax: (916) 319-2113
District 14: Assemblymember Nancy Skinner - Fax: (916) 319-2114
District 19: Assembly Member Jerry Hill - Fax: (916) 319-2119
District 36: Assemblymember Steve Knight, Vice-Chair - Fax: (916) 319-2136
District 45: Assemblymember Gil Cedillo - Fax: (916) 319-2145
District 47: Assemblymember Holly Mitchell - Fax: (916) 319-2147
District 60: Assemblymember Curt Hagman - Fax: 916-319-2160

If you own or operate a paintball business, there is a different letter available for you here: Paintball Business Form Letter

If you can't fax, you can email, but faxing is better. Do NOT send your letter as an attachment! You must cut and paste the letter into the body of the email.

Email addresses:

Dist 13: Tom Ammiano – Chair - Assemblymember.Ammiano@assembly.ca.gov
Dist 14: Nancy Skinner - Assemblymember.Skinner@assembly.ca.gov
Dist 19: Jerry Hill - Assemblymember.Hill@assembly.ca.gov
Dist 36: Steve Knight – Vice Chair - Assemblymember.Knight@assembly.ca.gov
Dist 45: Gilbert Cedillo - Assemblymember.Cedillo@assembly.ca.gov
Dist 47: Holly J. Mitchell - Assemblymember.Mitchell@assembly.ca.gov
Dist 60: Curt Hagman - Assemblymember.Hagman@assembly.ca.gov

Everyone who lives in California should also contact all members of the Committee on Public Safety. You can use the same letters to fax (or email if you can't fax):

Player Form Letter
Business Form Letter

To call, use the numbers below:

Tom Ammiano – 916-319-2013
Steve Knight - 916-319-2036
Gilbert Cedillo - 916-319-2045
Curt Hagman - 916-319-2060
Jerry Hill - 916-319-2019
Holly J. Mitchell - 916-319-2047
Nancy Skinner - 916-319-2014

Remember, the vote is soon, so you must act now!

Tell your senators to support the dismissal of the bill. This bill will not only kill jobs but also create an even more unstable economy. In a country that's 13 trillion dollars in debt why focus on destroying an industry instead of promoting safety

Just send them the letter regardless.

Staff at Ninja Paintball still sent letters even if they are from IL.

They might not care about us not being from California, but right now it's more about quantity than quality, not in terms of letter writing (we have to be professional) but in terms of producing an overwhelming response.

If they can see that what they do could potentially affect everyone, they might have a change of heart.

We play this sport for the thrill. The passion of the fight. After each game thank your opponents. For they are the ones that reveal to you who you really are. With out them you are lost. We put our soul into each second of the game to ensure the adventure on how we got to where we are today. This is a sport of the gods and lets treat it with dignity and respect.

"Hi, I am (your name). I am calling from (your place) to state my opposition to Senate Bill 798 unless it excludes paintball markers from being required to be brightly colored."

If you want, you can also mention that paintball guns are only used on commercial fields and private paintball courses and have not been a source of confusion for law enforcement.

Well, that sucks. What's the percentage of competitive teams that actually stem from California? I'd assume the number is pretty high. Road trips to Vegas to practice every weekend? I mean, I'm DOWN but that's a lot of gas money.

raehel, we would like to offer you any help from Germany/Europe. I've wrote you an e-mail via PbN.

We are experienced with that problem as in Germany the Government wanted to ban Paintball over here. We had three of the hardest months in our live activating thousands of paintball players across the world for petitions and contacting politicians.

Please let us know how we can support you, we will do everything we can.

Our forum is having 16k members and I will activate as many as I can, if it is helping in any way.

Thanks!
