Is this a good camera for just free lancing work? I've never done photography but was looking into a decent camera. What's a good price for this piece of equipment?

well if you've never done photography, you won't be able to get freelance work. Get any camera that you can produce great pictures with. Everyone likes different cameras.

By free lancing I mean going out and shooting pictures for the fun of it. I saw this camera on sale for 50.00 and was wondering if anyone had experience with the Canon EOS Digital Rebel Digital Rebel XTi / 400D 10.1 MP Digital SLR Camera.

New to photography (Advice,Help)

Alright so recently I now want to start photographing paintball.

I have a camera but I don't know if it will do for paintball photography?

I have a Sony NEX-5N with a 25mm lens and 70-300mm lens

Touch-screen display
Electronic First Curtain shutter
Revised 16.1MP CMOS sensor
ISO 100-25600
10fps continuous shooting mode (at full resolution)
In-camera CA, vignetting and distortion correction
Auto ISO limit of 3200 (increased from ISO 1600 in NEX-5)
Creative Control results-orientated user interface
Picture Effects processing options
1080p 60p HD movies in AVCHD format

Can you tell me is this good to start off with?

Or a camera I should buy for beginner?

My apologies for your misfortune. No matter what amateurs think, Sony is not a power in professional-grade photographic imaging equipment. Sell it off, and pick up either a used D300 and an 80-200 AF-S, or a 40D/50D and a 70-200 non-IS. You want to stick with Canon or Nikon from the start, and avoid a lot of regret later on down the road.

I see everyone recommending DSLRs when m43 cameras (Like that Sony NEX) are kicking *** at half the size/weight. They can shoot at higher frame rates because there's no mirror flappin up and down (hence the term mirrorless), and everything about them is smaller/more compact. The picture quality is equal to a DSLR... the OM-D EM-5 has one of the best in-body stabilization systems I've seen. You can take shots at 1/15 -> 1/30 shutter and it's still sharp, and because it's in-body it works on any lens.

The range of lenses is pretty big and keeps getting bigger... I have a 200-600mm 4.0-5.6mm, 50mm 1.4, 15mm 3.5 Fisheye, 14-28mm 4.0, etc. I can carry 2 bodies and 7 lenses and all my other accesories in a briefcase size bag.

Carl-Zeiss lenses (Sony... ) are well known for quality too, granted not all Sony lenses are Carl-Zeiss but still. To say that only Nikon and Canon make good cameras/lenses is ridiculous.

Rabble rabble...

Please learn to read. I didn't say that only Nikon and Canon make good cameras and lenses, I said that Sony is not a power in professional-grade photographic imaging equipment.

How many of them make a full-time living off of it? Jimmy is one of the few I know does, but he does way more than just paintball. Gary Baum does that stuff on the side, Bjorn I know too... also hobbyist. I'd consider most on the list to be hobbyist. They're obviously good, but it's not what they make a living off of it...

I know stretch is close near full time if not completely full time.
Jimmy does fantastic work from what I've seen.

I'm just saying that everyone keeps suggesting Canon/Nikon DSLRs and it isn't always the best option. Do you really need an optical viewfinder / full-frame sensor? Otherwise m43 seems like a better route. Granted I haven't gotten a chance to do paintball with my OM-D yet, so I don't know how the AF will hold up, but it's been really good from what I've used it for. I bought a backup Panasonic DMC-G3 (m43 body) brand new for $250, although I guess it's discontinued now. Add in a cheap lens and it'll take DSLR level pictures/video, but it's cheap and not ginormous.

Here's the DMC-G3 body compared to a T3i

Along with the full review of the DMC-G3

And the Panasonic/Olympus bodies have 2.0x crop factor, so that lens is a 28-85mm 35mm equivalent.
