Like I said, I am open to suggestions, I would just like to know why you (or anyone else) recommends X body or Y lens is all. Like I said, any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Flash suggestions? I am looking for a do-all flash. Canon 600EX or Nissin keeps popping up. Not opposed to paying the money once and being done with it but if $300 will meet my needs I won't spend $600. I want to be able to take any shot indoors where I need it and possibly use it off camera to play around and learn some of that stuff.

New Help!!
Hey guys,
So I have been playing paintball for around 4-5 years now and still love it. At the same time I have been traveling and getting really into photography. I am looking at getting my first DSLR camera. after searching around alot i figured this would be the best place to come lol.
What would be a great camera for a beginner? what would be the cheapest route to take? where would be the best place to look for them??
any and all help is appreciated guys and gals!
Thanks for your time!!!

hey guys, I have a canon 5d II, and starting like two days ago, my camera will sometimes say "error cf" when I try to use my camera. But sometimes it works fine. The card also sometimes will not show up on my computer when I put it into my card reader, but will also work fine.
So I'm trying to figure out if it's the CF card, or possibly the camera corrupting the card somehow. I do not have other CF cards to test with at the moment. Any help would be great, thanks.
edit: yes the pins are fine in the camera and there is no dirt/dust in there.

Jimmy has a good point there. As a general rule, I format my cards every time I put them in the camera.

It won't let me format the card in the camera when it decides not to work. And there is no error code. It literally just says "err cf" or "busy" and won't let me open the menu.

Weird, are you using a cheap off brand card? Sounds like its corrupt. Which isn't too uncommon. Go to a camera store and ask if you can try a sandisk or lexar card, and if it works, buy that card and discard of the old one. Google say anything on the subject?

I use a sandisk
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._M emory.html
and nothing really on google, just people saying to check the pins and basic stuff like that. I came here after I searched google. I'm gonna go to my school and barrow one of their cf cards to see if theirs work.
edit: Did even more researching and from what I'm reading online it seems like the cf card became corrupted and the "controller" in the card became damaged somehow. I just wonder how it got damaged, since I'm very gentle with my gear and havnt even used this card heavily at all. Oh well.

Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS I (not 2nd gen version) vs canon 70-200 f/4 IS for paintball, specifically video, some photography when I'm bored. Any preference? Will never be shooting indoor so is the 2.8 even worth it.
Looking at around $800 for f/4 vs 1300-1500 for the f/2.8

Why do you want IS? To stop movement when shooting sports, you need shutter speeds where handshake isn't an issue to begin with, so you can potentially pick up a 2.8 non-IS for the same price you would the f/4 IS and never see the difference.

My 70-200 has seen a fair amount of use indoors with my creatures, some shooting to 2.8, IS helps a good bit as well. Overall I do not regret paying as much as I did for the lens. If you can swing it you can always get the money back in resale.
