The T2i is capable of doing everything a 60d can do in a smaller, cheaper body. If you get into video however, the 60d has a few extra advantages.

but for the difference of like $400-500, i mean like im 15 so i will eventually get bored of it probley sooner then later but then i can also use the camera for other things, i know the 60d has the lcd screen, stronger body and the flip out screen which my dad said get the rebel t2i and use the money i saved from the difference and just buy a good lense.

Age doesn't mean anything in the aspect of owing a good camera. It really depends on your seriousness to the hobby and how much money you have. As for the $400 price difference, invest in a good piece of glass and then go from their unless you plan to persue further into photography. Like paintball, you will always strive for better gear so if you have a **** ton of money, go ahead and spend the extra money on the 60d and have a better camera although it wont allow you to take any better of pictures.

damn, 15, and you have the option of a t2i or a 60D, you better appreciate them parents of yours... but i'd say fainer's suggestion is probably one of the best options, and you can probably find a 70-200 for 450/500 i'm sure. just have to look around. keh, craigslist, and i'm sure others have suggestions on places to look too.

whcc.com or mpix.com

as far as mattes just do a google search. with whcc you can get them framed already and shipped to you as well as some other options through their ROES software.

Ok I've been messing around a bit in my camera with the settings.

I want to take some good pictures of my family before my dad leaves to afghanistan next week. I've noticed that when in portrait mode, some of my pictures have the background really soft while keeping the person in the photo sharp.

How would I do this? I heard setting the aperture makes and breaks the background but when I'm in portrait mode I can't change any settings except for multiple picture shots.

Canon t2i

throw it in AV...the lower the number the more of the background that gets thrown out of focus.

3.5 and close to the subject the background will blur. 16 and close more of the background will be in focus.

If doing groups, depending on your distance, you will want to shoot f8ish + in order to get everyone in focus.

It all really depends on your distance, though. If you are shooting 1 single person up close @ 5.6 with a focal length of 55mm the BG will be more blurred than if you walked 5-6 feet further back and then focused on them with the same settings.

Focal Length + Aperture + Focusing distance to subject = blur

So a close up of a person @ 12mm w/ 2.8 will be less blurred than say 85mm @ f5.6-8ish with the subject filling the frame the same way.

Sweet thanks.
I'll play around with distance and the setting a hit and log them somewhere. I appreciate it.

also the distance the subject is from the background changes the blur amount

so i'm wanting to do a short using time lapse, one of the scenes I want to be of a plant growing. anyone know of a way to get the camera to power off of a wall adapter so it can stay on all day. i'll be using my XT to shoot it, but if i want it to go off like every 15/20 minutes, i'll need it to stay on continuously.

So with the up coming snow storm coming tonight I was wondering what you guys think are the best settings to use when shooting a snow storm?

I realize that based on the lighting things will change alot but what do you think I should do for things like shutter speed? Should I use flash to light up the flakes or is it just going to make it look like ****? I am just a beginner but I want to try to get some interesting shots.

I have a rebel xs with the standard kit lense if you wanted to know.

I also got around $300 for christmas yesterday and was wondering what kinda glass I should buy. Im guessing the only decent thing under $300 is the 50 1.8 but I figured I would ask anyway. Why is this damn hobby so expensive lol

welp, bought my first DSLR. got a Nikon D70 body with strap, USB cable, 2 batteries, AC charger, and 2 2gb sandisk cards on craigslist for $175. the woman I bought it from brought a lens with her so I could try it out first, and it works perfectly and takes good pics for what it is.

a friend said I got ripped off and that I should've just kept saving for the D90 kit. I think it was a good deal and that it should hold me over until I can afford a D90, or D7000, or whatever. plus it will make a good backup to keep in my bag, or a loaner to let friends use. what say ye?
