because if you are shooting sports you need a fast shutter speed to freeze the action which negates any need for image stabilization. IMO, it is only really useful below 1/60 or 1/30 depending on how poor your shooting technique is. Keep in mind that all it does is stop camera shake, it wont help you freeze motion in anyway. I see the benefit on the very large lenses to some extent, but personally, I wont pay extra for an IS lens when there is a similar lens without it. But everyone's needs are different, I dont shoot still life or anything like that.

Would a Class 10 SDHC card work with the Canon Rebel T1i?

any SDHC card will work with any canon camera that takes SD which is the entire rebel line.

Thoughts on this umbrella kit? Will be my first umbrella, so I'm thinking I'll get something inexpensive and figure out what my needs are before buying a better, more expensive one. This one is well reviewed for the price, just the lightweight stand being the weakest part.

It looks good, but from what I've seen, it's hard to go wrong with any umbrella from a reputable company. Personally, I'm planning on buying this kit once I get 2 more manual flashes:

but I'm kinda cheap, so if you'd prefer to go with a brand, that looks good.

I've looked at that set too. It's kind of a toss up. Two 32's @ $100 or one 43 @ $70. I've only got a single flash now, so the second umbrella would just sit until/if I get another one. I wonder if I'd even miss the extra inches on the umbrella.

I didn't link you to the right set then, because the one I found before had 40's..I just can't find it now.

I did the exact same thing but only had a 70-200 and 30D at my disposal in the freezing cold at night..the best advice I can offer you is, just like shooting paintball, anticipate what's going to happen, and prepare for it. If someone's 1st and goal, you better be behind the end zone, and if you're not, you should be watching the crowd ready to capture the celebration.

Stay out of the coaches, players, refs way. Don't shoot player's backs (I made that mistake), do the best with what you can. If the lighting is spotty, then try to capture action the best you can in the parts of the field where it's the brightest.

I got my Grip'd 40D and my 55-250. my 70-200 funding went down the toilet due to accidently knocking over my step dads street bike but that is the next thing I need to get. I read about if I don't have the focal length to be behind the end zone to be at a corner and that will give me a few more feet.

I learned that playing Freshman year. Read this on POTN so I know about being the least important on the field. right after chain gang.
They have I believe 8-10 massive lights that cover the field so I'm hoping lighting shouldn't be a issue

the massive lights don't do much. I was shooting in a CFL stadium and still had to boost my ISO to H which was 3200 I believe on the 30D

you can do 3200 with one of the custom functions. Just focus on the action on your side of the field. Dont try and shoot across the field because you wont be able to fill the frame with anything decent at that focal length.

Ya that's what I was thinking. More of just the stuff thats on our half of the field. is what I'll focus on but if its more towards the other teams sideline kinda pointless

My turn to make ask questioning.
What do you guys recommend for soft boxes on mid crop to full body portraits? What brands are the best for my money? I'm about to buy 2 more flashes and that imbrella kit I linked to, as well as a backdrop set, and I figured I might as well get some soft boxes too for times when I don't want any spill light.
