Still unsure as to how you were able to get a photographers badge.

i can only wish i can go all primes. very far from it right now. though i would always keep a 70-200 somewhere
gotta finish school this year, find a job, pay off school, then i can invest

crappier lenses = softer. A paintball hitting someone is much more interesting if the picture is tack sharp. If you take a picture with a 70-200 f2.8 vs a 55-200 4.5-5.6 you'll obviously produce a sharper image than with the 55-200 lens as theirs a huge difference in quality.

If you want a photo badge, just ask for one and you can get one. I shoot for fun at my local field and am looking to move more towards selling my images like I do with senior portraits. Thats literally all I meant, more expensive glass = sharper images... Jesus.

I really don't see the need to flame the **** out of me. This is the Photo and Camera FAQ is it not?

not true in the slightest on the bold part. A lot of it has to do with light/aperture/movement/shutterspeed.

at f/8 and a fast enough shutterspeed I don't think that the difference would be noticeable. But who really shoots at f/8? Most lenses are like that. At f/8ish+ it's really hard to tell the difference. Shoot wide-open and it becomes pretty apparent.

I had a crappy Tamron 75-300 and closed down 2 stops it produced stunning images. But who wants to shoot at f/8 all the time when you can get the same quality at 2.8-4.0 *raises hand*

55-200 is fully capable of snatching paintball breaking shots, along with ungodly timing. paintballs dont all break the same; they splatter at different speeds, etc.

"expensive glass = sharper images"
are you saying my $90 canon 50 1.8 produces absolute **** quality?

sorry, just not buying what you are saying. i really don't think you know anything.
