I'll watch the "superior intellectual" canadians burn down their city after us "rednecks" in Boston (according to you, ******) beat your *** at your own game.

On a scale of 0-8.8....how mad are you?

Zero?

After going to game 7 of the finals the following Monday i left for Europe and have been here since, life is great and I get to go back to a great city in a few weeks to spend time up the coast on island beaches

Keep worrying about rednecks going around in circles though, im sure it's very stimulating

Can everyone seriously just shut the **** up about NASCAR vs. Formula 1? Seriously, nobody ****ing cares. This thread is to discuss F1, which I would like to see happen. If you want to talk about your NASCAR **** then do so in another thread.

Can a mod please start deleting some retard posts so a real discussion can take place?

F1 cars aren't plug and play. The car needs to be driven fast enough so that heat stays in the tires and they have grip. Too fast and momentum will spit you out of a turn. The brakes need to be hit instantaneously after releasing your foot off the gas, and must be played with to keep them warm. If not, they'll lock and you'll slide. The car needs to be going fast enough for the diffusers in the back to keep the *** stuck to the road. Too slow and you'll spin. Too fast and you'll spin. It's REALLY hard to drive Formula 1. Indy is fast, sure, but it's not Formula 1 fast. A driver can more easily hop in an Indycar and get away with driving it than a Formula 1 car. Then imagine taking a 90 degree turn at 90 mph after having dropped down from a massive straightaway going as fast as 200 mph. The G-Forces alone will strain the average person's neck. Or how about hitting an S-turn at those ridiculous speeds?

THIS should end the debate. There shouldn't even be a debate, NASCAR is difficult but it's all drafting. I'm not saying Top Gear is the gospel for driving, but this is a real person's view of how difficult it is to drive a real Formula 1 car.

NASCAR's vehicles are all the same. TCOT is built to spec and needs to be designed as such. The only real difference is the engine and suspension. But in Formula 1, each team can build their own car, buy one from another manufacturer, and then build their engine. Ferrari is the only team that has built their own car and engine in F1 since it started. I don't know if that's changed by now, I haven't kept up with F1 in a while. Every F1 car is different.

Anyway, I'll stick to watching the Porsche GT3 RSR dominate their class.

They just are having bad luck in the past two races. I mean button won with a drive through and a blown tire. Though, one of the main reasons he was able to win was the late safety car. Vettel made the mistake of thinking he had the win in the bag and was going about 1:19-1:18 a lap until I assume his engineer was like pick it up button is charging for you at 1:17's and 1:16's. Honestly, Vettel started getting 1:17s right when button was getting close, I fee like he just got lazy.

I'm not expecting anyone to chase down Vettel this year to win the drivers champ but I really want to see some more wins from McLaren.

Although Button is my preferred driver, I don't see that as being much more than lucky circumstances. Vettel is an amazing driver and Red Bull has some amazing machines.

I do wonder though, why is Schumacher so far down in the polls? Wasn't he World Champion many times back in the 90's?

Yeah he has like six world championships. Two in the 90's four in the early thousands. (Specifically '94-'95 & '00-'04) He certainly is a world class driver. He is a lot older than the other drivers though, so his reaction time and such might be suffering because of that. Vettel said Schumacher is his racing idol and he really looks up to him as a driver.

Hamilton is my pref driver, although people get all pissy about how he was signed with Mclaren since he was 13 and "bred" to be a f1 driver I really like his attitude and racing style.

Again, all things a pro driver can do. Its no secret the failed attempts of F1 and Indy drivers had in racing Nascar. There is a reason why most people cant do it. I've watched F1, I know what it entails, and it is not the most difficult form of competitive racing in the world, that belongs to Nascar.

Its all drafting? Do you have any clue what you're talking about? Because that statement says no, you dont have a ****ing clue.

Exactly why the emphasis is placed squarely on the driver and not on the car. Being able to drive a cup car and win consistently is the most difficult thing to do in auto racing because the cars are so similar, driving style, setups, track conditions, etc. play such a huge part, and its all on the driver to do it. Just having a faster car and being able to out perform another car doesnt happen in Nascar.

Nascar is run in tight bunches of cars side by side, 1 small **** up and you're day is over. In F1, you so rarely run side by side this is hardly an issue. Like Joe said earlier, its a time trial.

Quote:
But in Formula 1, each team can build their own car, buy one from another manufacturer, and then build their engine. Ferrari is the only team that has built their own car and engine in F1 since it started. I don't know if that's changed by now, I haven't kept up with F1 in a while. Every F1 car is different.

I know.
