Agreed with you on There Will Be Blood - my favorite of his. It's one of those movies where it ended and I just felt like it had somehow changed my life, yet really couldn't tell you why. It's my favorite DDL role as well.

the dark knight rises - 8/10. not terrible by any means but it wasn't as epic as i expected.
carlito's way: rise to power - 4/10. i didn't expect much & it totally lived up to it.
the adventures of ford fairlane - 8/10. yeah, andrew dice clay's humor isn't as funny as it used to be but i still think it's very funny. take out all the "ayyy.s" & "ohh's" & there's a decent comedy there.
Having read all the source material that the characters are based off of, I think all the minor changes they made to certain characters fit well within the established universe. Its a lot of film to take in, and a lot that you arent fully told, but you cant have a 4 hour movie thats made for the masses to enjoy. A worthy third movie, considering how absolutely awful this could have been.
Joaquin Phoenix is my favorite actor. Being able to see him in a Paul Thomas Anderson flick will be the icing on the cake. I read the Scientology Wikipedia page the other day in preparation. It was helpful cause I knew nothing about them until then.

I've actually read bits and pieces of the script online and from what I can tell, it is and isn't a movie a about Scientology movie. The PSH character occasionally speaks in Hubbard quotes and his religion is almost identical to the earliest form of Scientology. PTA has done a lot of research on this guy and it shows. However the script at its core isI more about Joaquin's ****ed up journey to find himself and his purpose in a post war world.s
Joaquin's great, I hope this is his year for the oscars.
Conan the Barbarian (the remake)- 6.5/10. Was better than I expected. Only watch it if you're in the mood for an action movie with little plot. had some gory deaths in it.

Kingdom of War Part 1 & 2- 8/10. Really good story and action. Its over 5hrs and 30mins so make sure you have a lot of free time or just watch it in sections. All in subtitles btw.
